  • I can't remember the last time I went camping. My idea of roughing it is a Motel 6 or something. I like a real bed and bathroom and ac. I'm getting soft in my old age.

I hope your session goes well. :)
Well Happy Birthday to her! It's been raining much of the day here as well.

My week has stunk out loud so far. Work tomorrow, then three days off. :D

On the Fourth I'm going to Corpus Christi and touring the USS Lexington. I'm a history geek. Do you have plans for the holiday?
I'm sure you do a fine job my dear, I was just teasing you. :)

I remember driving around and finding a store that was open and had ice at the bargain rate of $5 for five pounds, which should have cost 79 cents at the time. Bread it you could find it was going for $3-4 a loaf when it should have been maybe 69 cents. Some people later went to jail for profiteering.
I was living in a second floor garage apartment in The Heights then. I woke up the next morning and looked out the door. A large tree with a power line wrapped around it was blocking the stairs. Not that many people were going to work that day, or for several days after.

Ah, Houston in August with no air conditioning. After two days of that I said to heck with it, told my boss I was going on vacation and went to visit my brother and his family in Austin until they began to get the power back on.

Two teens hu? And yet, your sanity seems largely intact. ;)
No problem, it was my bed time too. Are you getting any rain from Alex? I was living in Houston when Alicia hit in 1983. I would not wish that on anyone.

Yeah, you have far more patience with kids then I do. That's the reason I never wanted any of my own.
I have no patience with the smart mouthed kids of today. Yeah, they have always been around. But there seem to be more of them now. I'm 55, and things were different when I was a kid.

But really, many so called adults are no better. We have become an increasinglly rude and impolite society in my opinion. Maybe I'm just an old fart, and behind the times. :idunno:
No, I drive a city bus. It stinks. I also drove a school bus for a few months because I needed a job. And that was even worse. If I had to work in an office I would slit my wrists and be done with it. I can't stand being cooped up like that.
I have had one weekend off in 18 months. I'm a bus driver, and hate it. I'm trying to find another job. :fingerscrossed:
Oh, I've visited now and then, and it has changed a lot. Some of the best years of my life were spent in The Bayou City, and I have many fond memories of Houston. I still love that wacky, weird city that defies explanation. I'm thinking about moving back there next year.
Just thought I'd say hi to a fellow Texan. :D I lived in Houston 1980-87. Welcome, and enjoy the TMF. There are a lot of great people here.
