The Ruthless just joined the #10 club! Not many tickle torture comic book series make it that far, and we're ecstatic The Ruthless was our second comic line to get the distinction. The Ruthless #1 released May 2007 and has been going strong the last 7 years. It's been a fan favorite, tracing the bizarre adventures of Stacia Walton and her alter ego, The Ruthless. This story arc is bringing about the conclusion of a Battle Royale pitting Tracy, Ariel, and Doctor Collins against each other. Doctor Collins was already eliminated via ticklish knockout, and now Tracy has Ariel at her mercy, wanting to test every aspect of the redhead's endurance and willpower.

We have a new art team for the comic line. As you can see from the cover below, we are in good hands (and spoiler alert from the cover art: Ariel laughs) They have brought Ariel and Doctor Collins to life in this issue in a beautiful way, and for that we are very thankful.

Here is some production stills to The Ruthless #10, to be released on May 2nd.

This is our first shot of Mae Collins, or Doctor Collins, in the issue. This is the pencils, inks, and lettered colors so you can see the evolution of the process. In the first shot, I thought she looked a little homely and the angle was a bit off. We couldn't really tell that she was addressing someone else across the table from her. I thought the inks were just gorgeous, she looks exactly how I envisioned her. The character is 37 in the series, but looks in her early 30s. Vagner did a great job capturing her personality here. And of course the colorist comes in and does all kinds of awesome things with the line art. Jadecks is a new addition to our artistic repertoire, and he's done some amazing work so far. We look forward to working with him for many years. These two make a great job, and I can't wait to share this issue with everyone!

It's like strip poker, but waaaaaay less fun.

Actually, this was a mistake. That scene was in Ruthless #9, not #10. That scene wasn't too far from your description It was a scene in which the ticklee had her clothes taken from her against her will.

The book is selling well; thanks to all that have checked this one out We are well into production for The Ruthless #11. We actually kind of have our ducks in a row with this series, and I hope to keep the pressure on for quicker releases. To answer the question, pencils/inks are finished, it is now being colored. So it will likely see a June or July release date.

Collins looks amazing. Looks like a good issue!!

What exactly is the true extent of Stacia's power? We know that she can alter reality according to her imagination, and can traverse between different universes. What exactly is the limit to such a powerset? Could she, IDK, change the rules of logic itself or something?

Absolutely, the artist did a fantastic job of bringing her to life in the series. I'm really excited about their interpretation, especially given where the series is going.

That's a great question, and I've been intentionally vague about this through the series. To some extent, I like the readers to interpret Stacia how they want to. I've given hints that the suit itself gives her all her powers. I've given hints that the suit is irrelevant. I've given hints that her power is near limitless, and on separate occasions hinted that overuse of her cosmic ability will shatter her mortal mind.

I like Stacia being an icon of mythology in this comic universe, thus there can be quite a bit of interpretation of what she really is. She will become a central plot point in "The Agencies: Frontiers" as that 10-issue graphic novel comes to a conclusion soon (I finished writing issue #10 a couple weeks ago...yay!). Stacia is also central to a lot of background events that happen in "Hunted" that are yet to be revealed in full. When the L'Ni, the alien race that Lae'Shaar belongs to, found out Stacia evolved the powers the way she did all on her own, their collective species freaked out, and it is a fundamental driving force that explains much of what happens in that world and how human society evolved as a result. And it's a fun thing to explore. I haven't really gone into this notion much in the comics, but what if Stacia were real. How would we really act if we discovered someone from Earth evolved to the point of becoming a deity? And they were doing really crazy shit...not robbing banks or destroying armies, but kidnapping people sporadically and tickling a cheerleader on live, national TV? What would that do to our society and how we see ourselves? It's fun to think about.

Stacia has knocked on many doors in the universe. We will eventually see that she awoke something exponentially more powerful than she is. So no, she is not God, nor does she wield limitless power. And she may very well find her humility soon enough (*cough* spoiler)
