Here is the climax to our latest story arc involving Stacia and her entanglement with the Witch Hunters. Its ending may be surprising for a few reasons. Without going into a lot of detail here, the question was asked in our teaser whether this was the end of Stacia Walton.

The question isn't so easy to answer here. It's been a fun story arc to write alongside Jon Essex. We wanted to tease out more details on how powerful Stacia really is, if anyone could truly break her, and how she would go head to head with the Witch Hunters.There remains plenty of M/F tickling in this issue, so if that's not your cup of tea, you will likely want to skip this one. Otherwise, I really like this issue for several reasons, and I hope you do, too. The art team remains consistent here, knocking this one out of the park like they have on so many earlier issues of The Ruthless. The lines and colors are just incredibly gorgeous.

Damian has fallen head over heels for Stacia.

The Ruthless #16 page one preview

This issue was supposed to release July 3rd in celebration of our nation's holiday. However...I'm going to be out of town, so that wasn't the best planning on my part To make up for our delay in releasing Hunted #7, here is The Ruthless #16 a few days earlier than promised.

We start the climax to this story arc with Damian carrying an unconscious Stacia while her suit watches in despair/desperation. After he proved himself by killing off the Witch Hunters, Damian now starts his journey with Stacia...a path they will not likely forget.

The Ruthless #16 production evolution

Here is a still of Stacia tickled relentlessly by Damian. In the layout, we started out focusing on Damian using his magic to conjure tickle lightning, similar to what Yelena had done previously in her duel with Stacia. While Damian is a fun character and all, we decided we should use the page space and focus on our damsel in distress, while de-emphasizing Damian a bit in the background via silhouette.

The explosive graphic in the bottom left corner originates from a spot on Stacia's body indicating there may be something else going on with her in this scene as she screams with laughter.

I...uh....hhhhhmmmmm Did....did some sort of time traveling sex stuff just happen. Where her nearing or starting climix destroyed a Universe. I think I need to be walked through exactly what happened, Oblesklk. I feel I got the gist of it....but not really.

You're certainly on the right track. I'd be more than happy to give some clarifying comments.

As a backdrop, I've always been curious what kind of energy a supreme being would need to emit and consume to exist. How much energy do you need at your disposal to make planets, stars, solar systems, galaxies appear out of nothing? I wanted to explore the notion that if you have a being (Stacia, aka "The Ruthless"), who is cosmic in nature, but far less powerful than anything we would deem a supreme being, how much energy is welling up inside of her at any one point in time? The comic book (using super duper Comic Book Physics, which as we all know is extremely reliable as long as you don't ask too many questions) suggests enough to destroy a far away galaxy, some several hundred billion stars, if that energy were released at once.

Both Stacia and Damian had visions of a future state...the birth and life of their little girl Air-El, which Stacia names after Ariel, her Boot to quash dissidence on Earth. Damian knows Stacia cannot conceive a child as she is, she's a highly evolved life form with such biological functions long behind her. So he needs to render her mortal again so they can conceive their child. He knows roughly how to do this, but does not understand the consequences.

He effectively releases an energy signature beyond his comprehension. So Stacia, who does understand the energy signature, takes matters into her own hands, has the suit quickly spirit them away to a corner of the universe no one would miss, and proceeds to devolve so she can eventually give birth to her baby girl.

I hope that helps. I don't want to give away too many other spoilers, so tried to stay both high level but focused on your question as I could.

So basically....it would be like if Galactus was hot and could have sex? Damian paid the ultimate sacrifice for the Goddess he worshiped.
