As an experiment, I decided to create a quick little illustration using only pencil, paper and a Linux computer with only open source software.

The sketch was scanned into my Ubuntu Linux laptop using XSane, and painted in GIMP using my Wacom Bamboo tablet. Quite impressive how both the scanner and the Wacom worked right out of the box, whereas under Windows I had to install additional software to make them work...

Painting in GIMP is a lot different from painting in Photoshop, and requires a whole different workflow. (not easy on a 15 inch screen either) It lacks some of the features that make Photoshop so user friendly (and popular), but still, I was rather impressed with the possibilities of this (free) software.

The technical jargon went clear over my head, but the results speak for themselves! As always, the Scavenger touch renders black leather and dark armor the most elegant of fem trappings! Much dominatrix has been sewn into this spiky ninja gear. The lady looks both aggressively sensual and stealthily lethal, a deft blend! Her attitude has much to do with this... the pose promises quick, silent action, yet her dreamy gaze and pouty half smile suggest a smoldering hunger (for the kill, perhaps? That's certainly a type of lust!) The hair, pulled into an ersatz (I'm presuming) topknot conveys a barbarity that might instantly disintegrate once the suit is gone. Yeah... I'll bet she's a sweetie-and-a-half once she's off the clock!

LBH: Well, for technical jargon, this pic was also a proof of concept in the sense that one doesn't necessarily need an expensive computer/OS/software to do digital art (all the software I used here, including the Operating System that runs the laptop, was free)

But you are quite right about the dominatrix aspect, which I kind of deliberately woven into it.
