Is there an option to turn off following?

I got a notification that someone was following me. Someone I've never spoken to nor interacted with. I find it very off-putting and creepy for strangers to just track what I do, post, and share which is why I had my profile set to where only friends I already had could do so. Is there a way to change this function or turn it off?

Right now it looks like there is no way to disable that. I will continue to look into it though.
