I forgot about my opinions paper this week and its due in 2 hours, topic is..

Explain the reasons for engaging in self-disclosure

(self-disclosure is personal information, shared intentionally, that another person would have finding out without being told.)

I assume you mean "that another person would have trouble finding out without being told". Silly Glam, waiting until the last minute. 😀

Why? The few times I've done so, it was when I was speaking to someone I was close friends with and wanted to become closer to. By sharing something the other person would not have found out alone you bring yourself closer to them. You make yourself a bit vulnerable, in a sense, by sharing information. Knowledge is power and, cliché as it sounds, that's the truth. By giving the other person that bit of "power" you let them know you trust them and that trust cements the existing bond.

Whew, too relationshipy for me to think long about. 😀

It could be habit that's conditioned.

Also, judging a person's personality and how they act, it could spare future issues or dramas.

Although sometimes that fails in epic ways.

I also agree with DSL; Knowledge is always power. 😀

I was going to respond until I saw the time of your OP. I guess I found this too late. Hope you got it done okay. Ahh, the memories this brings back! lol
