Granville Holler Sketch-up Test

Here is an animated sketch-up of a test piece for my upcoming graphic novel, "The Cabin in Granville Holler." I'm still fooling around, searching for a different look for this project... my wish list is to be some kind of gritty amalgam of realism and toonish simplicity (along the lines of G. Roberts) which is probably mutually exclusive. I'm not quite satisfied yet and don't know where I will end up.

But the process is fun and I know some of you enjoy seeing these kind of behind the scenes thingies.

Granville Holler Sketch-up Test No. 8

Another sketch-up test for my upcoming graphic novel, 'The Cabin in Granville Holler.' This time I drew very stylized and made use of the line tool. Surprisingly, I used to loathe the line tool but now I see there is a kind of Zen Archery to it. I actually enjoyed the process but it is excruciatingly slow compared to my other methods. I fear if I pick this style for the work, it will take a very long time to complete a single chapter. But my, my… how clean and crisp.

Here, Vicki finds out the hard way that 'Pa Yokem' is not what he seems to be.

Ah, the best laid plans of mice and men. Where do all the rejects go?

I had planned and started a new C.A.B. Cinematograph: Evil Fiendish Doktor Ha: The Girl with the Golden Toe second animated short. A full color animation is built around the best 1960's James Bond villain genre, in this case, the nefariously lovable Doktor Ha and his relentless pursuit of goody-goody female spies… and, of course, world domination. But... it just never gelled for me and went the way of the dodo. So I shelved it for now... maybe indefinatly... I don't know. Creatives are perfidious creatures. Here is the link to a test of the animation that never was... (many thanks to AnnoXanti for hosting the test work) and a few screen shots
