Liner Notes: Purging more from my recent trip to Mouse World, I take a nostalgic trip to a time when Walt was just another guy in the trenches, slaving away to make a buck. Minerva Mouse (you know her as Minnie) was created by Walt's under-sung partner at the time, Ubbe Eert Iwerks, who was probably the genius behind most of the early characters, and given her full name by Floyd Gottfredson. Her first animated appearance was in Plane Crazy and then Mickey's iconic 1929 Steamboat Willie as the sole passenger on board. Aside from becoming Mikey's love interest in following films, she progressively played damsel in distress roles in the following animated shorts. There was even some cheeky bondage in 1930's The Gorilla Mystery.

So being that our gal is no stranger to the yumminess of ligature marks, I re-present her here in this still from the 1931 film South of the Border, a parody of a short that never was, but should have been, a cautionary tale of misbehaving as a guest in a foreign country. Minnie learns the hard way that Blackie Pete of the local Policía is not to be trifled with. After her lengthy jail stay I'm sure Mickey will love to hear about all the laughs she had whilst on holiday. But don't feel too bad for Minnie, in 2012, old Walt's legacy grossed over 42 billion dollars revenue. More than enough to justify a few forced tickle torture squeaks.

i think these old school characters need thier own televison series. CAB, you of course would be director, producer, writer and animator!

your spot-on ability to re create a style while adding healthy portions of sexiness is never short of amazing.

i've gotta say, if I were minnie, my behavior would most likely be even worse in the future. sometimes being a slow learner has its benefits!!!
 
At least her flower hat is unharmed. Small favors. Plus, millions of dollars or endless cheese. Whatever Walt convinced her was a good contract.
 
I can only echo squeak toy's assessment of your studied period precision. Having grown up with 50's era pre-Hanna Barbera cartoons, this is like being back there again. I can almost hear the little matinee orchestra accompaniment.
 
You really know how to rock the nostalgia! excellent blast from the past!
