Hello folks,
It's no great secret that this sub-forum has been seeing a massive number of posting problems in the last week. The number of moderation edits, deletions, and user reports in the last several days has been staggering. Way over what things should be. It's been having a serious impact on the forums staff's time, cost us a few users who have written private notes of why they chose to leave, and made the place a heck of a lot less fun for everyone.
The basic problem is that a handful of users (about 10 of you) can't seem to follow the forums rules of conduct.
The problems fall into a few groups
1) You see a valid post that is bait for a specific political perspective. Instead of ignoring it you choose to attack the poster.
2) You see a post that is not valid, and IS flame bait to all who may see it. Instead of reporting it and letting the staff deal, you attack the poster and set off a full flame war
3) Insteads of debating points in posts you debate the people. That's a Golden Rule violation.
4) A general desire to just be rude to your fellow users.
It's gotten way out of hand. To the point where I have seriously considered closing this sub-forum for a few weeks until the war is over. Why till then? Because every one of these threads thats been a problem is war related.
But a few people convinced me that doing so would be a bad choice. So we are taking a new direction.
As some of you discovered last night, you were banned from here. That was done to show you we can and will do so. You've since gotten your access back.
In the future when we find a problem post here, we'll edit the trouble and leave a message of warning. We may lock the thread at that point. In fact we probably will. A second offence will earn a few days suspension from the sub-forum. If you can't follow the rules, that we, your hosts have set up, then to be frank, you are not welcome to play with those who do. It's unfair to them. We want the majority of users to enjoy their time here, and I will sacrifice the pleasures of a few in the service of that end. That's one of the sucky choices I get to make from time to time.
I understand the impulse to discuss the war, and the politics that surround it. Everyone is feeling some form of stress about the events of the recent weeks. But perhaps a political forum that is dedicated to such discussions might be a better place for your debates on the subject rather then a tickling forum? There are no shortage of forums dedicated to such out there, and you can bang on each other and ones like yourselves to your hearts content on them.
