There was a recent thread about people recognizing people in the member's pics section in life, and how exciting that would be.
There are a lot of people here who lurk. The vast majority of you do. My question is, how many people would join in fully here, and how many people in real life would fully embrace their tickle fetish if societal or perceived religious barriers weren't there?
I've always wondered if any of my friends enjoyed tickling, but many of them or either religious or close minded, so if they are ticklephiles, I'll never know. And because of THEIR close mindedness, I'll never be able to reveal who I am (or should I say, my power! ha ha!)
That possibility, of hidden ticklephiles, who have either buried their love of tickling because of fear of God's wrath (why God would hate laughter, I'll never know, but fundamentalists aren't allowed to laugh or have fun, it's a sin) or society calling it weird or disgusting (it's funny, EVERYONE hates "societal norms," but few bother to reject the negative ones) is more fascinating because it broadens the horizon. It's something we'll never know. You may know soemone your whole life, and they may love tickling, and they can never tell for fear of rejection. That rejection is a reality, by the way. Sad, but true.
For you lurkers out there, as a chance for more of you to de-lurk, ...why do you lurk? What forces are keeping you silent? Internal, external, perceived external?
I mean, look, we have 5,000 members, yet there are only 160 member's pics. (and two have been proven fakes, so it's only 158) That's a pretty sad statement of existence. I know, I'm in the thick of it. Seeing someone I know in the member's pics section would mean more to people like me than to someone who is free to share their love with others.
I remember when I started the "secret society" and some people got flustered - "I don't need a secret society, everyone knows I love tickling!" Trust me, to me, this is a secret society.
To those of you who have people around you who accept you, I say, go up to them as soon as you finish reading this post and hug them. Thank them for accepting you. Those of us who are hidden can only wonder what it's like in your shoes. What you live everyday, we will have to wait for heaven to experience.
What do the lurkers and contributing members think about all this?
