Recently while watching American Idol, I noticed a quick, small tickle during a special documentry. The contestants were getting a massage & manicures/pedicures. One of the contestants started playing This LIttle Piggy with the very beautiful Kimberly Cadwel (Oh, I murdered that name!) At the end, he tickles her. The whole thing is about 4 seconds. I've captured it to my computer, but I need to know what size is good for download. Of course the larger the size, the better the resolution/quality.

Plus, how many 56Kers and how many Broadband people do we have here?
 
I have broadband, so any size is fine with me. Many of the clips that get posted are in the 3-5 MB range and people rarely complain about those if they are properly identified (m/f in this case).

Are you sure that was Kimberly Caldwell? I thought it was Carmen Rasmusen.

I'm almost certain it was Kimberly Cadwell. I can check when I get to the pc I'm storing it on.

OH, another question:
DOES EVERYONE HAVE OR HAVE ACCESS TO WINZIP?
It makes the files so much smaller 🙂

i wouldn't expect a 4 second clip to be more than a megabyte, even at high quality.

btw, you'll probably find that winzip doesnt do much good compressing MPEGS.

i have 56k as well, for the record. 🙂

Well..... actually I had it up to 11Mb with a nice 720x480 res, and zipped it went down to 8Mb. I can't seem to get the MPEG codec to work, so right now it's a MOV file. (Quicktime) I don't like QT as much, but it's the only way I can get it out of straight DV format. (which is 60 something Mb) I'll take a look at home and see what I can do. I'll try to get it under 1.5 Mb.

I'll probably end up making two versions, one high res and one low res.
 
OK, stay tuned. I'll get the file(s) up ASAP. Just have to format them and upload them. I'll reply here when I've got them up.

(hope my server doesn't have a maximum bandwidth...)

Alrighty, let's see if this works...

High resolution clip
(6,044,920 bytes, 630x420, zipped quicktime MOV file)

Low resolution clip
(1,478,013 bytes, 330x220, zipped quicktime MOV file)

You'll need WinZip or a WinZip compatible archive program to unpackage these. I still think it's Kimberly C. being tickled. Either way, have fun.

Oblesklk, if you'd like to, I have no objections and in fact would be pleased if you hosted the files on your FTP sites, just incase my hosting site has a bandwidth limit or other unforeseen problems. Thanks.

In likely chance that this isn't correctly executed, please offer advice and solutions. 🙄
 
Isn't working for me so far. I click on the link and it tries to open, then the window goes dead.

And right clicking brings up a .html file to d/l. Keep trying though, we appreciate your efforts a lot on this. I know how much of a pain in the ass it can be to get clips out to folks 🙂
 
hmmm..... a pain in teh ass indeed! Perhaps a zip file needs to be routed through a html document inorder to be downloaded. I'll whip up a simple page and a link, maybe even have it up by this afternoon.

In the mean time, has anyone tried copying and pasting the link to the Address bar? If anyone would like to try, use the links below.

I am DYING to see this clip. Carmen is my favorite too. On the "Halfway Home" special that aired monday night they did a little montage of behind the scenes footage for each contestant. When they did Carmen's (and I am so pissed that my VCR is screwing up because I was going to tape that show), she looks at the camera with those big blue eyes and says something to the effect of "I hate wearing shoes..." Then the camera pans down for like 2 seconds and we get a glimpse of the tops of Carmen's bare feet! I almost died. To hear her say something like that then see her feet was awesome. It all happened so quick but they looked pretty cute. Forgive me for going slightly off topic but hey Scoob, have you noticed the flirting between her and Clay? Now don't get me wrong, Clay seems like a good kid and he has an incredible voice but if there is something between them, I would think she could do a little better than that. I mean she is fine as hell and he looks like a retarded Kevin Bacon! Okay, sorry...had to rant for a second.

I'm hoping this clip does not turn out to be anticlimactic after waiting for it!

The clip isn't much, but it is nice.

I'm trying to send the files to you, but #&@* 56K modem keeps crapping out in the middle of the file transfer. I'm going to try and bring th eclips tomorrow to a pc with broadband connection.

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say your efforts are very much appreciated. Computers can be great but they can also be a royal pain and they never seem to cooperate when you need them to.
