i hear a lot about people saying like "on a scale of 1-10 how ticklish are your feet" etc, just to find out what different people think...what is a "10" to you? a "7" and so on. would be interesting to see what different people's "scale" for this is. make a description for each number 1-10 10 being worst.

I've noticed that most people seem to answer that with something along the lines of "15" or "20" ... not really a response to your question, just an observation.

Most of us 'lees have spots which can take a very extended amount of tickling without too much trouble (according to my scale, that would be any spot that rates less than a 6), and then there are those other spots that go from 0-10 upon contact 😱
I also think that on some level, a 'lees ticklishness also depends on the skill of their 'ler (then of course there are other variables to consideras well... such as the 'lees mood, hormone levels, predisposition for giggles on that particular day, etc...😉 )
But if I had to rate myself on the overall ticklish scale, I guess I would have to say I'm about an 8 on most days.

i've been surveying different people on where they rank on the scale and i found in this community most ppl say "15 or 20" like it was mentioned before, and that never helps me much because i know its just an exaggeration. btw i've surveyed many women and the results for that will be on this forum periodically. here's my scale for feet mainly
1- no response whatsoever. not a twitch
2-if u keep at it for a long time i might wiggle and tell you to stop, but nothing
3-if u get me exactly in the right spot you might get a reaction like a giggle out of me but i can supress mostly everything
4-constant light giggling or high pitched screeching that isn't loud, mild toe wiggling and jerking doesn't mind it so much
5-giggling with occasional loud laughing but can handle long periods of tickling
6-constant loud laughing but foot can be restrained pretty easily may gasp or scream occasionally can restrain laughter unless tickling is intentional, can handle foot rub with out too much of a problem
7-slight panic does try to pull foot away and get away from the tickling very loud laughing and some screaming. may giggle during a foot rub or pedicure when tickling is not on purpose
8-pretty friggen ticklish seriously trying to get away if restrained lots of bucking and kicking very loud laughing with some screaming would be jerking and giggling during a footrub
9-oh god get me out of here- screaming pounding floor wild bucking when tickling gets intense wake up the neighbors, getting real violent, spazn out, yelling stop and other things at top of lungs would have a hard hard time handling anyone messing with feet or whatever body part in question.
10-can't make out a word they are saying, just screams with sounds that may or may not be words, flailing, very hard to control, no one can touch feet or there will be trouble, can tickle own feet if itch is scratched, laughing to the point of crying and silent laughter. will hide feet or body part at all cost even if not threatened directly.

I'm a six or a seven on Sara's scale...there are other parts of my body that even go as high as eight.
The other half? 0- Not ticklish at all
1-Slightly ticklish
2-Under average ticklish
3-Average ticklish

From a purely statistical standpoint, a 1 to 5 scale is better.

Hate to be the party pooper, or boring statistics guy, but let me tell you why 1-5 is better than 1-10.
Typically, when you take a survey, you will only offer between 3 and 6 responses. Each one of those responses represents a given value then are plotted on a bell curve.
Example: Are you satisfied with the TMF?
A: Very Satisfied (1 point) B: Somewhat Satisfied (2 points) C: Somewhat unsatisfied (3 points) D: Very Unsatisfied (4) points E: Don't Know/No Opinion (0 points)
Now imagine if you had to answer that same question, but there were ten possible answers. It would be tough for you to tell the value change between each answer. Also it would be a huge pain in the ass for the person performing the survey. Finally, the more values you have for an answer, the less variance between each value.
Example: A woman says she is a 4 on a scale of 5. Each point represents a 20% degree change in ticklishness. On a 1 to 10 scale, each point represents a 10% change in ticklishness. So there is a more noticeable difference between a 3 and a 4 on the 5 point than a 7 and an 8 on the 10 point. I ask all you ticklish people, can you honestly tell a ten percent increase in ticklishness between your feet and neck?
Just some statistical thoughts to ponder. This is the most practical use I've had for my college stats class in a while!

MATH IS EVERYWHERE!! I married a mathematician, and he has made it all too clear to me that you can find math anywhere you look. I, being the more creative artsy type wholeheartedly disagreed, but sadly it looks as though he might be right. And here I thought the TMF would be my safe haven away from all the math crap (lol).
Here's my opinion about Rasputan's post (and there is no offense intended here). I don't think that you should mix something as logical and formulated as Math (stats, in this case) with something as primal and passionate as tickling (or any kink for that matter.) When you try to break it down statistically, it loses any emotional or playful quality it had to begin with.
So yes, would Rasputan's scale be more statiscally accurate than my own? Probably. But does reading that mathematical stuff make me feel like I'm in my college stats class all over again? Absolutely. Accuracy wasn't even in the furthest reaches of my mind when I came up with my 1-10 scale. It sounded like a fun question, so I answered it.
What's next, are you going to make a graph to determine the relationship of ticklishness to some other variable (age, time, or economic affluence perhaps?)
Please for the sake of my own sanity, leave the calculators at home kids...

Great thread!..This is a personal observation of mine with limited experience of being tickled casually by relatives ,No experience being tickled by another that LOved Tickling .Ok here goes:
When I have momentarily taken off my shoes,socks for some relaxation time,my ticklish scale is a 8,if relatives brushes by my bare feet soles pointing outwards over couch,if my foot jerks instantaneously and there is no use to try to control it from happening 😛 😀 That is just from brushing by me,now if the tickler grabs my feet over onto their lap and proceeds to rake their fingertips,or fingernails over my soles ,toes and where I am immobile,my ticklish scale on my feet is a 10 😀
I guess now by that confession,me and my feet aren;t safe anywhere 😛 😀
