I'm not sure really how to present all this, so......bear with me.
One of my favorite directors (and actors), John Cassavettes, was a force of nature. You will most definitely get a sense of the man in the two clips he appears in below. I could talk Cassavettes all day, but for our purposes, let's focus on the tickling aspect. Right after I kill this mosquito that's buzzing around this room, hold on a sec.
Ok....
Clip 1: From the documentary "A Constant Forge"....actress Lynn Carlin notes that since he would do so many takes, Cassavettes would resort to tickling her under the table and the like to get her to laugh hysterically for scenes in the groundbreaking movie "Faces".
Clip 2: Now let's take a look at these scenes! First up, she is laughing hysterically through most of the scene. Some of it may be great acting, but some of it is definitely tickling. By her own admission from Clip 1!
Clip 3: Now she's in bed with John Marley, and you can see him actually tickle her a couple of times. Both are laughing hysterically througout.
Clip 4: A famous classic, super hot scene. Starts with a shot of her hysterically laughing (tickling?), then cuts to a super hot scene where young Seymour Cassell (yay, Seymour!!!) chases her around the house, up the stairs and into her bedroom........when he catches her, he doesn't tickle, but it sure looks like she's afraid he will. It then turns into a love scene, possibly the best example in movies how tickling gives way to kissing and lovemaking, a beautifully-performed scene, very real.
Clip 5: Very short.....a drunk gooses two women while John Marley eyes Gena Rowlands.
Clip 6: F/M clip. Gena Rowlands raspberries John Marley on the neck twice. I think F/M fans will like this clip, just for Rowlands' attitude throughout the scene.
Clip 7: Ok, now we're in the movie "Husbands". Now keep in mind what we learned in Clip 1. That Cassavettes will resort to tickling if need be. Now watch this scene, where he's a dentist, and his patient is laughing hysterically because she's so nervous. Could be acting, sure......could also be tickling. From the first time I saw this, years ago, I thought...it seems like someone is tickling her to get her to laugh. Inconclusive, and probably wrong, or so I thought then! Now that I've seen the Lynn Carlin interview clip described above, where she says that Cassavettes would resort to tickling, I'm even more convinced that this woman is possibly/probably being tickled. Watch her body language closely. And of course....the laugh.
Clip 8: In one of the most uncomfortable scenes in movie history, Cassavettes himself manhandles and tickles a British girl he's picked up, acting totally obnoxious but winning her over by the end, in part by using tickling to break her down. This is the only clip of the batch that's been posted before, but this is a newly made clip, excellent quality. It's five minutes long. The actress is Jenny Runacre.
Clip 9: Now just when I was about to post this thread....I realized, there's a documentary "The Making of Husbands"....and sure enough, there is a short section that has the filming of this last scene, with some stuff that didn't make the final cut.
Clip 10: Also from "The Making of Husbands" has a scene of Ben Gazarra pinning a girl down in bed and seemingly tickling her, making her break up as she tries to sing. Because it's close up, it's inconclusive but like all of these scenes.....they're not hard to make the leap, if it's not actually tickling, they're always dangerously close....this definitely looks like tickling to me.
All of these scenes are long and extended and are for the most part highly unusual for mainstream. For this reason, most of these clips I cannot attach, and you'll have to download from Mediafire.
