14 Year Old Get's Life Wihout Parole

I was watching Tv and saw a story about this young gang member.He was 14 and was convicted for shooting at police with an AK47 .He didn't hit anybody but,the judge gave him life without parole.

I am a big backer of police they have done me many good turns.But,to give this kid no chance at life I think is alittle harsh.My niece is a police officer and I understand that you have to stop crime before it boils over and someone does get killed.

But,life without parole,what you guys think to harsh or fair.

What I think on this subject doesn't matter. The judge has to make these decisions, and he knows the criminal better than I do. It might actually be fair, but w/o knowing a lot more about the case I can't make that call.

For a fourteen year old juvenile to be tried as an adult it can't have been his first offense. Anything he did before he was certified as an adult is sealed - it's a juvenile record. My guess is that this isn't his first attempted murder.

Don't know about life without parole.

I damn sure feel safer with him in there, than out here with my family. I don't think that time spent in prison will make him a softer, more caring person. Also, I don't think I'd much care to meet him even if he made parole.

Still, I don't know about life without parole.

He deifinitely should have been punished severely to prevent any further acts of violence, but life without parole? Absurd. For that to be given out, usually one has to kill someone, or commit a VERY, VERY serious federal felony, which, while terrible, this incident was most certainly not. I'm sure it will be overturned rather quickly, since this is WAY to harsh a punishment. The punishment does NOT fit the crime in this case.

I actually know people whose solution to all of this would be to strap him to a gurney and introduce him to Squirt City...
It's true, they used to execute children here in America, especially down South. They had the same attitude in executing young Black male offenders as they would shooting a rabid dog. That all stopped when the press made a fuss over a twelve year old boy who cried and sobbed for his mother right up to the point when they pulled the lever on the wall.
You meet a lot of people here who think this is the answer to violent crime. Execute them all regardless of age, mental capacity, or whatever. They don't care about anything. Just kill them.
