Yep, but I was hoping Chicago wouldn't be....I mean it's a large city!

Chicago isn't dead by any means. I know quite a few cool people in that area. But the personals can sometimes be a tough place to meet people when it's the only way people have to get to know you. Try posting in the discussion forums or going to the chatrooms. When you give people a chance to get to know you, then you won't be a total stranger in a personals section.

I'd also suggest checking this event in July not too far away. You can meet a lot of awesome people, male and female, have a blast and make a lot of contacts.
