1. I'd say you've every right to be annoyed and feel that Sheila was intruding with her questions / concerns about Maria.

2. I'm not sure how close you are to Adam's mother, so she may have felt it was ok to discuss that stuff and didn't mean any harm by it.

3. I think discussing situations with so many people can help but also hurt. Have so many inputs to go off of can help you see things more clearly rather than making a hasty decision based off of emotions running high, but it can also make you confused about how to deal with things if everyone has their own opinion about your life. Also, asking for advice / input all the time, may give those people the idea that they can ask you personal questions / tell you how to live your life (the way Sheila called you up and told you to find a "Jewish" girl, etc.)

4. Take what EVERYONE says with a grain of salt / do not take everything personally. That includes close friends / family as well as members here.

Mairead, first let me say thank you for your sincere and well meaning advice.

Now, to my thoughts about your post.

1. I agree with you that Sheila was being intrusive about her questions in regard to Maria.

2. I am pretty close to her. I've spent a lot of time with their family since I moved back to NY. I see your point about maybe her feeling it okay to discuss the subject, and her not meaning harm.

3. To clarify.. I didn't ask Sheila for input. She merely knows I talk to Maria. I never said to Sheila "Do you think my talking to Maria is okay".

4. Thanks, but, knowing me for many years as you have, you know I have trouble with this.

There are worse things to happen to you in life. I wouldnt waste one more thought on this other persons opinion. "Thanks for your concern,have a great day." Thats all you need to respond with instead of taking issue.

Meaning: Whenever you post your personal issues on the main boards, they don't seem to end well for you. So why do it? Feedback? You can get feedback on your blog. Or is it that you want a larger audience?

C.A.B., I wasn't looking for a "larger audience". This was just a circumstance where I wanted feedback, which is why I didn't post it in the blog. Usually, my blog posts are read, and ignored.

Not sure why what i typed was funny. But its true. Think about the things that make us upset. Then sit back and look at them,really look at them. Is it worth the time and energy being upset or annoyed? Dont let the negativity be a focus and look at it simply as someones concern. Then move on and dont give it another though. Otherwise you are the reason you are upset. Not because of what the other person said to you initially.
