2MB Limit ??

What's up, Doc? I cannot load a 30 second MPEG because it's too large a file, yet previously I successfully loaded an WMV clip that lasts nine minutes. A 2MB limit is pretty stark for video files, yes ?? !!

Grab yourself the free version of winrar or winzip and split it into 2mb parts. Then you can post it over in the Splits group.

You could also convert it to another format (while in the process give it better compression, you'll have a slight loss in quality but the size should be cut down dramatically).

It's not a magic fix or anything, encoding videos and getting a good size can get pretty complicated, but windows media encoder is pretty easy to use and could be worth looking into.

You can also take a look at Hacha in the Splits FAQ's to split your file.

Why thanks times ten!! U will investigate the split and format changes as alternatives. Even so, I still cannot believe the 2MB limit for clips, that is so so so low as if to eliminate almost every video clip I own. A simple hit song, just one audio-only file can easily be over 4MB. But but but yes, the site is free, and I shall quit complaining right now.

The site is free, yes, but not for the admin. 🙂 Increasing the file size would increase the cost of keeping the site up etc etc etc... 😛

Mpeg is a poor file format for a small clip. The quality may be good but it's huge. There are a lot of good, free programs out there to convert with and you can split files up to 20megs in size using winrar or some such program. (20 megs is the limit for split files here)
