99 Year Old Man In Italy Files For Divorce Of Wife Of 77 Years

I just read a story that is somewhat.. shocking. In Italy.. a 99 year old man, has filed for divorce from his wife of 77 years, who is 98.. after the man found a love letter written to her.. decades ago. Supposedly, this man is the oldest person to file for divorce..,and the person who has been married the longest to do so.

At age 99, it must be very.. gusty to file for divorce from someone after that long.

The majority of long marriages I've heard of that ended in divorce, lasted about 20 years, with the particpants in their 40s or 50s. My parents split after 21 years.. in 1989.

My ex best friend's parents seperated in 2005, when the father was 65, and the mother was 62. They had been married 41 years at the time. Someone I knew made a comment to me, about how they didnt think they could leave a spouse after 41 years. 41 years seems an eternity, but 77 years, omg!

I think that most of this is probably brought on by his age.

I can't imagine that they were married 77 years without fighting over less trivial things.

I bet Dr. Phil will be all over this. I heard they just stayed together for the sake of the great-great-grandchildren... :0 Yeah, they shudda just shacked up first to see if it would work. In todays fast paced, everchanging world it is so sad to see this, but I agree with Bothersome about the issues.
