It set me to thinking about the inherent kindness a dog will show you, even when it seems like the rest of the world is unkind.

That's goddamn right.

Good for you, Saeria,..... I also have a "rescue" dog,... a healthy happy Chocolate Lab that I've had for 2 years... he was thought to be 2 when I got him, so he's now 4,.... and I knew he had be severely mistreated. He was a terrified, paranoid disaster at that time, but today there is not a more loyal, obedient and downright civilized and genteel dog,.... good as they get. Their bond is unconditional.

I'm glad the pup made it through her crisis and that you took mercy on her. What a miserable condition someone left that poor animal in......they should be ashamed! I say if you're not going to care for an animal right, don't get the animal at all. The previous owner's loss is your gain.
