The other day I was at Wal-Mart in the movie section and came across War Of The Worlds This version is on DVD and VHS This version is supposed to be more truer to the book than the others IE taking place in 1898 The DVD vesion is 180 minutes long I haven't had the chance to watch it yet Hopefully it'll be good Only pain $8.42 for it

Could you tell me who produced and released this? It sounds like something I want, but I may need that info if I have to hunt it down.

Yeah...post a link to IMDB or Amazon for us or somehting 😛

I picked up a copy earlier today. Found it at Wal-Mart at a very good price, just as you promisesd. I've only had a chance to spot check it, but you're right... the FX work is a disappointment. So is the production design and the direction. There was no need for this film to be three hours long. Each scene I looked at dragged. On the plus side, the plot does seem to follow Wells' novel pretty closely. I'll watch the whole thing tomorrow, but I expect it to be a pretty long haul. It's hard to believe Pendragon Pictures ever seriously considered this for theatrical release.
