If you had a chance to talk to a younger version of yourself, What would you talk about?

in 1998 I'd tell myself while working at the Holiday Inn to stay the hell away from a housekeeper by the name of Marie

Easy. I would've told myself to worry less & love more.

"All those moments will be lost in time. Like tears, in rain..." - Blade Runner (1982)

I wouldn't say a word. I'd stare long and hard, and then slap me right across the face!

I'd speak to my younger self and tell my parents please stop smoking

Man...I'd want to say so much. I'd tell myself not to waste so much time on people who don't make you truly happy and feel good about yourself. Explore more, don't be so closed off to new things. Last but certainly not least, think more about your future. Do what you feel is right, even if it causes frustration for people you care about. If you make choices just to benefit them, you'll be betraying yourself and it will haunt you greatly down the road.

be cautious of certain people within the family, they'll turn on you

I would impart on him all the years of wisdom I had aquired over time. I would tell him what to get prepared for, what's really important, and how to live a fuller, richer life, with less worries and troubles in the future.

And, knowing that asshole, he'd just ignore it.

I would tell myself in 1977, don't pull the hair of a girl named Stephanie Shafton. Because it's cruel and you'll remember it like it was yesterday and still feel extremely guilty about it 43 years later

I would say to myself in 8th grade give college a try

If it were possible , I'd advise a younger Soda Bob to be wary of people who claimed to be his future self seeking to give him advice.

lol yes

oh i would try to tell myself a lot..like talk myself out of doing something dumb..i would not listen to myself tho i was very stubborn lol

It's between reassuring him and telling him that his future will be okay, or just giving him a much needed slap across the face. 😛

I would say you need to be more cautious of what you eat

I don’t know what I would do or say. I don’t think I’d want to. While some experiences haven’t been great, it’s still a part of where I am today. Lessons learned, even when devastating and hard, are still valuable.

There was a point in my life, when I was younger, when I sort of was unsure whether I was smart or strong enough to make my dreams a reality.

If my present 34 years old self could meet with 23-26 years old me from the past, I'd just tell myself that "In the future, you have accomplished 90% of what you set out for, you live happily with the woman you love and what's left to do is only the cherry on the cake. You are NOT being too ambitious or foolish; in fact, you could be EVEN MORE SO. So, you may think that what you have is as good as it gets, but boy you're so wrong. Don't limit yourself, don't think you're crazy and keep working towards it. It's actually easier than you're thinking".

This thread reminds me of a discussion that I had 20 years ago with a colleague in the English department who taught (among other things) composition to first year students. It was her practice to give this as her first in-class essay assignment:

"Imagine that a time machine has been invented that will only transport very light objects into the past. You can use it to send one piece of paper to your younger self on your tenth birthday. Now write what to want to tell your younger self on one sheet of paper."

I asked her what sort of things they wrote. She told me that they usually wrote their philosophy of life. I pointed out that that was a huge waste of a wonderful opportunity. She didn't understand what I meant and asked what I would write. I sat down, wrote, and then gave her this:

"Beginning when you are 21, go to Belmont Race Track every year for the Belmont Stakes. Bet as follows:

1978 Affirmed
1977 Seattle Slew
1976 Bold Forbes
1975 Avatar
1974 Little Current
1973 Secretariat
1972 Riva Ridge
1971 Pass Catcher

"In 1978, a man named Bill Gates will found a company called Microsoft. Take all of your winnings from Belmont and all the money you can borrow and invest in Microsoft. Don't sell until 1994 at which time invest in Amazon, a company founded that year by a man named Jeff Bezos.

"You will be much richer than you ever imagined was possible.

"On a personal note, when you get to 8th grade, stay away from Martha W. She is a real bitch and she will betray you and break your heart."

This is excellent :goodjob:

...I would quite frankly say to myself...just play FFVII XD....

Ok no seriously.. I would prolly say to myself..

'Your doing good..kid'

This sounds like a fun prompt. I'll bite.

-Daddy does NOT know everything. Nobody does, but everyone is always learning.
-On that note, focusing on pleasing your parents is a foolish time investment. They will very likely not live with the consequences of your actions longer than you will.
-You need to prepare better for failure and rejection. Nobody likes a petty, crybaby, self-destructive hoe-bag that whines incessantly on social media.
-Some movement is better than no movement.
-It's okay to be the guest, let yourself relax, and be in the moment.
-Sometime in college, you'll live in a cozy little stoner den of a trailer. There will be a handle of Jack Daniels and friends present. A tickle fight will ensue. Pay attention, you idiot--this could have been an important oversight.
-Don't waste time on people who aren't willing to invest time in you back. Be understanding of others' space, but stop trying so hard.

That was darker than I had planned, damn.

I'd say choose wisely who you reveal your tickling and foot fetish to
