A Note to Friends and Fans...

Greetings everyone. With all of the support you guys showed me when I made the announcement about my current struggles, I thought it only fair that I update those concerned with a little progress report.

Things have been looking up. The depression is leaving, due to both a new perspective and the wonderful drug Paxil.😀

I had a lot of time to think, and many of you helped me through a really dark time. Those of you who know who you are...THANK YOU!

I still think that my contributions will be less frequent than they were in the begginning of my "career", but that's due to my own desires, not anything else. I just posted my first new story in a while, so I hope you enjoy it. Sara has a lot of ticklish adventures planned for her (much to her dismay as she was thoroughly enjoying her vacation!), and you'll be the first to know.

Thanks for everything guys! This is still the best place to be, and that's because of its wonderful members, a very close-knit family for the most part.

Good to hear you are well. I was on Paxil for a period of time, but all it did was make me lose weight and make me want to eat a gun, but it works for some people.

The medication is an important step, but always remember that it won't cure you by itself. I was on Prozac for about a year or so, and the best way to describe it was that it acted as a "Noise Filter" for my depressed thoughts & emotions: It didn't erase them, just lowered the volume from a frenzied roar down to a more conversational level, allowing me to sift through them rationally and choose which ones I wanted to keep, so to speak. It gives you the clarity to do the real work of beating depression.

I'd also recommend laying off the {ahem} "Under-The-Counter Pharmaceuticals" during this period, as they may react reallyweirdly with your prescription. Especially the Absinthe, as that's got wormwood in it. I'm no botano-chemist, but I seem to recall wormwood as being very similar to Hemlock, the famous Last Round of Socrates.

I leave you with an Egyptian Blessing (sounds Minbari, though...) I once heard:
"May God stand between you and harm in all the dark places you must walk."

Paxil is ok, but Siberian Ginseng is a nice (and probably less expensive) alternative.

One additional tip: from what I've read, the most trouble people ever have with "chemistry re-balance" drugs such as Paxil is that when you feel you have things together and can back off the stuff, do so carefully and with people you trust around. Follow a doctor's advice. In some cases, going cold turkey can be *nasty*.

I don't mean to scare you, or scare you off of meds. In many cases, "restoring a natural chemistry via artificial means" works VERY well. Just...be careful, that's all. And for damnsure don't mix the stuff with *anything*, esp. not alky of any sort or "funky recreationals"...but you knew that already 🙂.

Thanks for the advice on coming off Paxil, it's something I've already discussed with my doctor. I'm not mixing it, as I've also quit drinking. It was getting to be a bit of a problem. As far as "recreationals"...there's still one I use, but that's me and I doubt that will ever change, although I'm moderating more these days.
