I just got a digital camera was on sale got a great deal,Ok well that's not the question. This may be a stupid question but,am going to ask anyway. If I took this camera and saw on TV a nice foot scene could I take a picture of it and what kind of quality would it be.If this is real stupid question, don't laugh to much because I am real sensitive lol.😕

Not a bumb question at all. The answer depends on the camera and on your TV screen. If you have one of those non-reflective screens and a good camera, you might actually get a decent image. I'd give it a few tries with anything...a commercial or something...and see what happens. THen, you'll know what to expect when it comes to something you really want to capture.

Ann is right, it depends on the resolution of your camera.

Also, the thing with digital cameras is: there is a pretty substantial delay between pressing the button and the camera actually taking the shot. That's why consumer models aren't that great for action shots, sometimes there's a bit of blur.

It's a great idea you have, good luck with it mate!

I used to take photographs of TV images with my old manual camera. I sometimes tried to disguise the fact that I had captured an image from the set. However, in mentioning this it occurs to me that I generally had taped things with the VCR and then freeze-framed the images to photograph them. That way you can capture the exact image you want and even fine tune it on your TV. Good luck!

contrast

It will be all washed out if you just take a picture. What you will need to do is, get into the menu of the television set.

Go to "contast" and turn the contrast all the way down. The image will be a lot darker than before. Turn off all the lights in the room. Now, take the picture.

That is the best way to get the best iamge taking a picture from a screen. If you ever shoot a video, of a girl being tickled, and you want her to watch television, do that and you will actually be able to see what she is watching rather than see a washed out really bright TV image in the background.

However, these days, video capture cards, anaolg especially, are really cheap. Below $100. That will be a whole new frontier, and obviously will generate a much better image. I think you might want to look into those.

Good luck.

Since it's a digital camera, and you can delete the picture if it doesn't show up great, try it and find out. Try different settings and different lighting to see if it will work.

If it doesn't... delete it. If it does.... You've got it made!

Quality of the image

The image you take off a tv screen will definitely be of lower qaulity only because it is a second generate copy.

If you tv signal is digital it will be clearer than analog.

If your digital camera has any type of virtual shutter speed make sure to set it to 1/30th of a second or greater. In the US the frame rate is 30 frames per second with each frame having 2 fields. In England it is 25 frames per second, with 2 fields per second (a field is one pass of the scanned image with two passes needed to produce it).

As a bit of small trivial this coincides with our 60hz electrical outlets, and the 50hz system in Europe for PAL formats. Which is why having videos converted between systems you lose quality.

Also I recommend using a tripod or other steady surface to reduce blurred images. Turn off the flash (or supress it with some tape and cardboard), and turn off any internal light sources that can cause reflection or glare.

Or, you could always choose to experiment with your fave photo-editing program and see if you can clear the image up. Works for me. 🙂
