A Question for the ladies

This is a question basically for women but men are welcome to comment if they like. Here is the situation.


I have a young friend that had to have all his real teeth removed because his real teeth were rotting and he had a bad case of gingivitis. He now has fake teeth that look good enough to do a toothpaste commercial.

Here is the problem. He won't ask any women out or even acknowledge that they are interested in him because he thinks that women will turn him down or break up with him when they find out that his beautiful teeth are not real. He sometimes has to take them out due to discomfort.

My question is: Would you date a guy with real messed up teeth or fake beautiful teeth that has to be removed from time to time?

(I apologize if this insults any men with messed up teeth)

Fake teeth don't bother me at all. But I certainly wouldn't kiss someone who doesn't take note of good oral hygiene.

It all depends on the woman.

I've seen some woman who have guys with problems, and they could care less, and others are superficial bitches, and of course they'd care.

It's all on the character of the woman.... and the guy. If he's still a great guy, or not so great guy inside.

I don't care that a guy has fake teeth; I care more about if he's taking good care of his oral hygiene now.

At my age, it would be unusual not to deal with a man with teeth issues. I dated men with dentures, some with partials and some who struggle but the front teeth are in good shape. Hell, my teeth suck so I won't judge a guy who might be struggling.

I just can't handle when the front teeth show signs of absolute neglect; my next door neighbor has that problem and I just wish he'd get them taken care of. He'd be better off with partials or dentures than a mouth full of front teeth cavities. It doesn't look heathy at all.

Well, all previous posts pretty much summed it up, I think. Especially Mabus. here's my two cents in, feel free to let your friend know: care more about bad breath then fake teeth. I mean that completely seriously.

I'll echo the oral hygiene thing. There are a number of reasons for having bad teeth, and not all of them are poor oral hygiene, but I think that the vast majority of the time that's the case. Having no teeth anymore is no excuse not to take care of his mouth. Bad breath, for example, comes mostly from bacteria on your tongue, so brushing is still essential, and using some kind of a mouthwash is important, too. Also, the dentures will get gunky, smelly, gross and discolored - just like teeth, except they won't rot - if he doesn't take the time to take them out and brush them. Any kind of hygiene issue is a mega ultra deal breaker for me, personally.

That said, if he is taking care of his mouth and new teeth, then I think that having dentures isn't much of an issue. He will ABSOLUTELY want to WARN her that he has them before he waltzes out of the bathroom the first time they spend the night together, cuddles up to her in bed and gums her. That will freak her the fuck out if she hasn't had prior notice. Some surprises are just NOT okay.

He is taking care of his mouth and dentures every day. I think its more of a "having" them that bothers him about women.

I'd go with the fake teeth any day! Hey, you're going to lose them one day anyways, so why not start early? 🙂

As long as he doesn't take them out right in front of me and puts them on the table, I wouldn't give a crap.
