Okay so... I was thinking a lot today, remembering things, and one of the things I remembered was the whole Sept.11 thing. The fact is that it took ages for that to sink in for me, just didn't believe it at first, but I was remembering a thing on the news ages ago. It was a recording from a police helicopter that just happened to be flying around the Twin Towers at the time, to the extent that one of the planes narrowly missed it. Once the first building had collapsed, the chopper flew over the other one, looking down. It was the most harrowing thing I've ever seen of that event: literally hundreds of people standing on the roof of the building, waving at the chopper to help them. But of course there was nothing they could do. As the building collapsed, the chopper was directly above, and the film clearly shows the people dissapear in a huge waft of smoke. The chopper spins out and nearly crashes as it gets caught in the smoke, but miraculously survives and just looks at the damage. Both pilots, who were screaming in fear before, are now totally silent, presumably too numb to speak. I was too after seing that.

So I had that horrible little flashback, and wrote this song to get it out. Sorry if it upsets people, but it isn't intended to sound anti-American.

"One Day In September"

One day in September
The blazing Sun must have cried
Watching thousands of people
Panicking, stuck inside
Explosion tearing through
Unleashing anarchy
Buildings give way and fall down
For the whole world to see

CHORUS:
They’re dead because you said so
They’re dead because you said so
They’re dead because you said so
You gave the order and now
They’re dead because you said so
They’re dead because you said so
Buried in rubble
And now it’s all your fault
So fuck you

Striking back and bombing
The poorest country in the world
And so another chapter
Of conflict now unfolds
Another generation
Hating the “Land of the Free”
And so the cycle goes on
Waiting for our misery

CHORUS

What gives any of you the right
To choose who lives and who dies?
History teaches us nothing
Maybe it’s time we woke up
The problem is they think they’re right
They feel they’re fighting the good fight
So what’s the fucking difference
Between them and us?

Thought I would add my own - a gentler Canadian poem, by yours truly.

Second Day

Worked hard all my life, just to be taken away.
Countless hours of preparation,
It is only my second day.

Loved my job; had friends on top,
Worried about the 3rd quarter; haggled over stocks.
All that is gone now, as no one is to be found,
We are all here though, still milling around.

To us, nothing has happened - we still have our say,
Leading the world of finance,
It is only my second day.

I refuse to be deceased; no terrorist can take that away,
In the prayers of those who will come after me,
I continue to live out my Second Day.

Cheers.😀

911 Silent Night

Silent Night 911
Silent Night 911

You say you will never forget where you were when you heard the news on September 11, 2001.

Neither will I.

I was on the 110th floor in a smoke filled room with a man who called his wife to say, "Good-bye."

I held his fingers steady as he dialed

I gave him the peace to say, "Honey, I am not going to make it, but it is OK...I am ready to go."

I was with his wife when he called as she fed breakfast to their children.

I held her up as she tried to understand his words and as she realized he wasn't coming home that night.

I was in the stairwell of the 23rd floor when a woman cried out for Me for help. "I have been knocking on the door of your heart for 50 years!" I said, "Of course I will show you the way home - only believe in Me now."

I was at the base of the building with the Priest ministering to the injured and devastated souls. I took him home to tend to his Flock in Heaven. He heard my voice and answered.

I was on four of those planes, in every seat, with every prayer. I was with the crew as they were overtaken. I was in the very hearts of the believers there, comforting and assuring them that their faith has saved them.

I was in Texas, Kansas, London. I was standing next to you when you heard the terrible news. Did you sense Me?

I want you to know that I saw every face. I knew every name - though not all know Me. Some met me for the first time on the 86th floor.

Some sought Me with their last breath.

Some couldn't hear Me calling to them through the smoke and flames; "Come to Me...this way...take My hand." Some chose, for the final time, to ignore Me.

But, I was there.

I did not place you in the tower that day. You may not know why, but I do. However, if you were there in that explosive moment in time, would you have reached for Me?

September 11, 2001 was not the end of the journey for you. But someday your journey will end. And I will be there for you as well. Seek Me now while I may be found. Then, at any moment, you know you are "ready to go."
I will be in the stairwell of your final moments.

Remember...I love you.

I downloaded the song it will make you cry, if anyone is interested. Let me know.

It Happened...

Over a year ago. Get over it. I hate being exposed to this crap.

Tron... For some people, the pain still remains and this is one way to help vent it and move on. If it bothers you to read the threads, may I suggest that you simply not read them?

Peace, bubblehead. 😉

Just The Title Of The Thread...

Offended me.
And after 2 Presidential Unit Citations, 2 Navy Achievment Medals, 2 Good Conduct Awards, 3 Battle Efficiency Awards, a Citation For Bravery, being SAilor Of The Year at two different commands, and an Honorable Discharge I sort of feel I have more rights than anyone to speak my mind when confronted with offensive crap.

excuse my ignorce here but how did 9/11 offend you? I honestly don't think anyone met to offend you or anyone for that matter. It was a tragedy that all American's will never forget.
We should love one another and embrace each other instead of lashing out with anger.
Happy Thanksgiving to all at TMF and their loved ones! Kandy 🙂
