A Surveillance State?

So, now apparently due to the ineptitude of the courts, we now will have hovering drones watching our every move. Having planes monitoring traffic was acceptable. Having helicopters patrol some of the rural areas once or twice a week was okay. Having camera surveillance in the cities was going a bit far but the price was deemed worth it. Now our privacy and freedoms have been fully stripped. The government could already wire tape, enter and search homes, and arrest people without warrant. Now we're gonna have DRONES watching us. Does anyone know if Europe is in the same boat? What about Canada? Cause I'm heartily considering a change of scenery.

The UK already has more CCTV cameras per person than anywhere. The present government is also trying to push a communications bill to allow emails to be read without consent because of worries about terrorism. This would be almost as draconian as China's internet restrictions. The government has also put an idea to the big 4 ISP's to have an opt out system, where adult sites are automatically filtered unless you opt out of that and inform your ISP, thereby putting yourself on some list of perverts -more digital McCarthyism.
So far the ISP's have rejected the idea on the basis of it being unworkable, but Teresa May is full of such ideas, as well as lies about immigrant's cats and anti workfare protestors being 'extremists'. The tories are working very hard to make themselves unelectable with all of these proposals. The old mantra of 'nothing to hide, nothing to fear' is only true so long as the government doesn't change its mind on what it doesn't like, and we've seen conservatives try to get obscenity legislation broadened from paedophilia to violent (albeit consensual) porn. Democracy is an ailing institution in both the UK and US, although I would say the UK has never really had it.

So long as the government decides THAT'S ALL YOUR DOING WRONG! I'm sorry but this nation was founded on having a REASONABLE EXPECTATION OF PRIVACY! Take that away and what do we get? A state where there IS NO PRIVACY and the people IN CHARGE have all the POWER.

That's...that's really REALLY SAD. Does that include Ireland and Scotland as well? I'm sorry but I could never grasp the whole "United Kingdom" concept fully. To me there's Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and Britian and there all separate nations (at least I always thought so).

Mhm, whenever I hear this, I ask where are from in the UK. There's barely any in the places I live, albeit I am 'oop North' as the stereotype goes.

And technically yes, they are independent (Well, maybe not Wales, since it may have been annexed by England a few centuries ago.) England (And Wales) signed the Acts of Union in 1706 and 1707 with Scotland, to make themselves a united kingdom (Since we'd shared the same monarch since the early 1600's) called Great Britain. In 1800 an act was passed to unite the Kingdom of Great Britain and the Kingdom of Ireland into 'The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland'. Since only Northern Ireland is associated with Britain now, it's now 'The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland'.

Sorry for the wall of text but I'm a history student and I love teaching people it. :/
