Leah showed me this earlier. It's interactive technology be written and tested at Lionhead Studios that brought us the game Fable. You may want to skip to 1:00 to get past the introduction on stage. It's amazing stuff!

OMG....that is amazing....

But it's also really scary. Raises the question of to much technology. Computers that can think and act......idk.....the devastating possibilities are as endless as the positive ones.

Wow - it's kinda scary. Where does it end?? I mean, of course it's all just a computer program, but here we have a little boy who has homework and goes fishing and remembers your mom's birthday...it doesn't seem real that he just ceases to exist when you push the power button. I imagine his mom calling him in for dinner and making him go to bed at a decent hour. Very, very weird.

Hmm. I a bit skeptical as to just how well you could carry on a conversation with it. With all of the AI I have encountered, it is still very basic, and you can totally lose it after a while. This makes it seem that you could talk about anything, and that it will be able to respond realistically, but the programming involved to do that would be vast.

In any case, I am looking forward to seeing this in action.

it's a really cool development but it does worry me a bit. It seems to be that much closer to removing human interaction with other humans. How many people would sit there and count this 'game' as their friend ... how many would get this as the center of their world? There are a lot of people that may spend a decent chunk of time here but at least there is still a degree of human interaction. So we don't see each other face to face bu at least we are communicating with other living beings. Milo isn't real no matter how lifelike it looks. To me it just seems to promote reclusiveness.

The more realistic we make our computer worlds...the easier it will be to get lost in them.....

Holy crap, that's awesome. 🙂

"Poo" to you all. This will not traumatize people, or "promote reclusiveness." If we can get to the point where computer programs can carry on a conversation, and understand what you say, then we can get to the point where we can interface with computers by voice, and make it so that anyone who can speak can use a computer. Just think Star Trek.... wouldn't that be cool? Well, this is the first step.

The only reason why Polyneux is starting with a boy that you talk to is that he is in the business of video games, but take out the boy, leave the voice and boom, you have a futuristic method of computer interfacing.

Here's another video of how they use it in gaming and social networking. The actual motion sensor piece is Project Natal from Microsoft. The first video in the thread was highlighting that specific program by Lionshead, but using Natal for the interactivity with you.
