Say an accidentally released bio-weapon (released by some 3rd world country) kills 78.9% of humanity on Earth but YOU SURVIVE and are now immune? What do you do next?

hmm,I guess you'd better evaluate the damage and make a plan to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Well being the only survivor that I know of, the very first thing I'm going to do is arm myself incase those that I find are anything but friendly and go in search of survivors.
From there myself and the other survivors would need to find a suitable place to re-locate and make a new establishment and try and rebuild some sense of humanity.

(CAUTION- THIS IS DISTURBING AND I KNOW IT)

I'd like to say I'd jump for joy, finally free at last from the human race and its vile tyranny- BUT it's not enough. That's only 4 out of 5 people dead, about 1.7 Billion left alive. It's not exactly a desert wasteland; The USA would still have 75 Million people left, about 25 times the entire population of the 13 colonies in 1776.

First I'd gather up stuff; food, vehicles, dogs, weapons, fuel, medicine and emergency supplies and see who survived among the people I know and trust, then get ready to fend off the gangs of looters.

A plague like this could change the world for the better; if you read up on the Black Death (which killed a hefty chunk of Europe) it paved the way for the Renaissance, the Industrial Revolution and the Enlightenment. I'd hope an 80% reduction in world population would have a similar effect, maybe bring about an age of true liberty for future generations everywhere- after the initial chaos.

Here's what I would do.

-Blame religion, because only somebody stupid enough to be empowered by faith could "accidentally" release a Bio-weapon in a 3rd world country capable of wiping out humanity.

-Rebuild civilization (wouldn't be that bad with 1,434,800,000 humans; however an estimated 90% of that will die off from infrastructure loss. So maybe 143,480,000 people? Still not too bad.).

-Make sure nobody else is stupid enough to be empowered by faith. Clinging to a jewish zombie isn't going to help you find food and survive.

I'd probably still go to work. They put a lot of trust in me when I was hired and I'd hate to let them down.

First I'd remember all the times I played Fallout and use that for reference (Hey that game will prepare you for a situation, and if you don't believe me then when I living the good life in the post Apocalypse I don't want you knocking on my door for help). Then Establish a secure place to live then fortify it. Then arm myself and stockpile food, weapons, equipment and ammo and see if I can find a source of transportation and see I can find my friends and girlfriend and if they are alive, see if they want to roll with me. Then after I'm all settled I'd raid stores for any luxury items. Lastly and most importantly find myself a G D Twinky!!! After that, depends what mood I'm in and how creative I am at the moment.

I'd go look for the old black woman in the corn field..

I'd go the complete opposite way to PurpleStyle and try to base a new religion worshipping ME as their God! Mwuahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Gee, I dunno. The 17th-century saw things like witch hunts and the beginnings of genocide against native Americans. And I find the prospect of total breakdown of order and the violence which will result less than appealing. If you think the criminal element is in charge now, you ain't seen nothing. The worst member of congress has nothing on the kind of people who'll be functioning as self-appointed war lords. They'll make Stalin look like Mother Theresa.

And what if some surviving nut case finds an unlocked missile silo with the keys still in the ignition and a launch codebook sitting on the dashboard and says “Let's open this baby up and see what she'll do!”?

But seriously, we ultimately may not have the luxury of saying “What if?”. Without meaning to be a doomsayer (and there are plenty of those on and off the web), sometimes circumstances have a habit of biting us on the ass. I mean, how many vacationers near beaches around the Indian Ocean on December 26, 2004 thought that day was just another day?

I'd probably still go to work. They put a lot of trust in me when I was hired and I'd hate to let them down.

Yeah, but what will the shareholders say if all the stock exchanges are gone, and most of them are dead anyhow? (Hey, it might be time for some serious profit-taking. And the unclaimed assets would be worth a fortune if the economy wasn't wiped out!).

A Bobby God? -stares in awe- XD

Think about this...

If 80% of the human race is dead, then you have another problem. Disease, rotting bodies, comprimised water systems and waterways. People will revert to base intellect...staying alive, self-defense. Anybody running an infrastructure system will probably be affected or dead.

Your best bet is try to e-vac the area to a secluded place. After all is said and done, humankind might survive with maybe 10%.

Do not count on survivors who are strangers. Even family members will turn on you for food and shelter. Avoid all contact with people while proceeding to you new shelter.

To say nothing of greatly-diminished sales and the resulting excess inventory build-up! 🙂

lets see i would make sure the people i know are either dead or alive then i would stack up on bottled food and water since that's probably be the only thing that you could really it that isn't contaminated or whatever. Shit after that i would go out and get everything i wanted and needed, find some shelter and just say fuck it. Lot of weed will be needed however lol

Yes...I've always wanted a new car and a mansion to call my own. ^_~

Assuming I'm one of the few who survive a plague.

Another problem would be food...most meat, grains, and dairy products are going to be in VERY short supply a month or after something like that happens. Maybe living on a military base would be best...powdered everything...well...except for meat...means I gotta learn how to butcher an animal...🙁

x

1stly: i would be a bit pissed off

2nd: Find as many survivors of the ppl i know and love and get us all together

3rd: gather food, water and weapons (for hunting and protection in general)

4th: live the high life and like 'borrow' a nice car to have a rampage in xD and have a lil party of the survivors to take away the sadness and sorrow the disaster brought.

5: Start repopulating the earth 😉... oooooooooooooh yrrrrrrrrrrrr
🙂😢huh:scared:wub:lol:stickout:blush

Since I couldn't survive on my own or cope with the deaths of most I know I'd probably just kill myself since there's no chance I'd survive the aftermath.

I remember watching something similar to this scenario on Twilight Zone or Outer Limits. People actually started to cooperate with each other after this catastrophe had ended and the smoke and dust had cleared. Race nor religion mattered and people started using the Barter system again, working with each other and for each other, their well being was paramount, at least in the particular area where this story took place. Very few weapons were left but the ones that did remain were very high tech for that period, missiles I believe, the heat seeking type and as I recall, a telescope. Everything seemed to be going well and the people were thriving, when one day while gazing through the telescope a shuttle type spacecraft was spotted in the sky, as it neared they noticed an insignia on the tail of this craft. It was apparently Airforce 1, a doomsday type shuttle which allowed the President and all of his cronies to survive because as everyone knows, government is the most important entity of all and must be maintained and preserved at all cost {sarcasm is wonderful isn,t it? But many believe this to be true}. They had escaped Earth to save their own lives and left the rest of humanity behind to suffer and die. Well, the people that remained believed that this type of person and philosophy neither belonged or was welcome in their new world as they had found a different and better way to co-exist, so what did they do? They blew it out of the sky, of course. Problem solved. The End

Well at least that president got to get blown up while in a rocket ship in space. Not many presidents can say that's how they went. ^_~ :stickout
