Adobe murdered my story!

Today I wrote a rough draft for a pretty good story (about an all-woman "Reform School" run by tickle-fiends) but thanks to complications caused by "Adobe Reader" the entire document was LOST. Adobe now ranks among the 3 Worst Programs Ever (along with Cakewalk and Mapquest, which is a website not a program) and will be BANNED from both my computers forever. It just keeps screwing things up in ways that my more computer-experienced friends have never even heard of.

Fortunately, I have 2 rougher drafts saved onto paper and Neurons...

This brought up all the bad memories of Crap-walk and other programs that destroyed so much of the music I'd written....though if I'd actually 'written' it onto staff paper the music would still be alive....

I'll try to post the story real soon, I think it's a good one.

I dislike Adobe Reader and use the open source Sumatra PDF Reader instead. For a word processor, I use Jarte, which is commercial freeware. It has an adjustable auto-save feature and tabbed document viewing as well.

I wasn't using it to create a document, but to view one. Adobe's one of those things I never think about, another sucky utility that comes with every computer I've ever had, another seldom-used program that constantly whines for updates. I had no idea it was this screwed up till the recent problems. I'm finding out there's 3rd party alternatives to almost everything that sucks.

Adobe isn't a sucky utility that comes with every computer you've ever had. Adobe is a software company that makes many shitty things including but not limited to...

Reader (formerly Acrobat Reader)
Flash
Dreamweaver

And many more.

And there's alternatives to everything. For example. I don't even use Windows! It's Linux!
