Does anyone play AQ coz I want to know where to buy the ring of the shaded grove

Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits and
Are melted into air, into thin air:
And, like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on, and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.

Isn't this game about as old as runescape?

I remember people playing this when they were 11 years old.

Wow, Adventure Quest - blast from the past. I don't have the answer to your question, but I appreciate the nostalgic reminder. I also liked Mech Quest, but the constant "pay to win" bombardments eventually drove me off.

Is that anything like Gauntlet? Or are we talking about arcade style (like Lightbringer and Dungeons and Dragons: Shadows over Mystara)?

It was a flash-based RPG, only it was primarily single-player (I think). Had it's own sort of charm. 🙂 Very corny, used a lot of puns and stuff, but that was sort of the charm - it's why it was so good. I don't remember the story, but it was one of those that seemed to center around accumulating better and better weapons to fight stronger enemies so you could buy better weapons (admittedly I just described every RPG ever). My only problem with it was that, without paying the $15 membership (a suggestion they made every ten minutes or so), most of the "good stuff" was locked to you.

LOL, and here I was thinking they were talking about something like Atari or an arcade machine. I feel really old now. Hahaha (sob).

Hey those were good systems back in the day.

Oh trust me, I know. Some of my fondest memories were playing games like that (especially when my Dad took me and my brother to our local arcade).

Don't feel too old.

LOL, it's far too late for that. Yesterday I got into a conversation at work with a female co-worker about how much I loved Battlestar Galactica and she agreed but then when I mentioned how I thought Lorne Greene was such a terrific actor she asked me, "who is Lourne Green"? I then realized I was talking to a woman who has never seen a single episode of shows like Magnum P.I., Miami Vice, etc etc.

Same here -- especially Asteroids in the early 80's and Ms. Pac Man a few years later :blush

I know the feeling :lol

Glad to see there are so many fans of previous-gen games in here. 😛 I still love a bit of Streets of Rage or Golden Axe once in a while (and Kirby - that guy is a stone cold badass. He'll either chew you up and spit you out as ammo, or he'll consume you, gain your power, and use it to lay waste to your brethren - all without breaking his poker face).

And here's one that made me do a double-take - Toy Story came out 18 years ago. I know it's not THAT old, when you think about it - it isn't like Laurel and Hardy or something - but still, it doesn't feel like it was 18 years ago. A long time or not, it's gone awful fast, hasn't it!?

OMG...Streets of Rage...I loved the 2nd and 3rd versions of those games! Also old style arcade Golden Axe kicked rocked my socks! ^_^

Has anyone played Dragon's Crown? That's supposed to be really good but I don't know if it's downloadable via a handheld console or the PS4.

Geez people! AdventureQuest only came out twelve years ago. :rolleyes

That's around the time the GameCube took over the N64's role, and when Kingdom Hearts first came out.

And, like, when TickleTheater was pretty much brand new.

...shit, yeah, that DOES make me feel old. ;_;

I remember getting a Gamecube the month the Wii came out. Cheap as chips - got one second-hand for thirty quid (about the price of two new films on DVD) at Cex. Sure, people laughed at my primitive controller and my lack of any Red Steel or motion controls, but I didn't care - I had Twilight Princess and Smash Bros Melee, and a ton more leftover cash.

Sometimes TT's age surprises me, too. Hard to believe I've been kicking around here for a decade - I didn't think I'd done ANYTHING for a decade, except for breathing and watching The Grinch every Christmas Eve.

On a related note, I'm chuffed to see AQ is still going strong. It might have been simplistic and a bit money grabbing, but you can't deny its cutesy charm.

Cutesy, sure. Until those damned lizardmen things comes along and ruins your day. :glare Still, the game is indeed quite precious, I agree. =) And some of the NPCs were cute enough to envision ticklish scenarios with if I recall, in that artistic way anyway, hahah.

Holy shit, I remember Adventure Quest, I had completely forgotten about that game XD Blast from the past indeed.
