As to why humans continue to mess with wild animals - we're a prideful species for the most part. Not sure if this is cultural or just instinctive. I'm leaning to more cultural now that I think about it. But it sadly seems to be in our nature to destroy and fuck with the natural order of things. Everything from deforestation to thinking we can super commando punch an alligator in the face simply because we know how to use a smartphone.

Why?

Part of it is arrogance. But I also think we try to "humanize" alot of these animals. Ascribe human characteristics and thought processes to these animals. I wouldn't doubt that the alligator trainer raised the alligator from birth. He likely talks to the alligator, expresses emotion to the alligator ect. It wouldn't surprise me if he felt that the alligator loved him! All the while he is living in a fantasy world and the alligator is still just an alligator.
