Just wondering so do not take me the wrong way

Is there an age restriction in toons?
And if so how can you tell your toon is of legal age?

Well...age restriction in toons has been an iffy subject for years. I remember asking the same question before.

Obviously putting 17 year olds (or less) isn't a good idea but it's happened on here many times before by some big artists and no one seems to mind.

It's because they're only fictional characters and they're not real.

But in my opinion, as long as the characters who are underage aren't taking part in blatent sexual acts (ie. Sex its self) then it's ok. ^_^

But if I were you I'd ask the MOD's before you post. It is their word that truly matters! 😀

There is no legal age restriction, but it's pretty clear that if it is a picture of a clearly under-age person in a sexual situation you can bet it will be frowned upon. I don't know what the policy is for it here though.

You should be more worried about the people who like to complain...no rules about it, however, there are always some who will look for any excuse to dis you. (dis? Wow, never used that word b4! ~.~) 😛

Alot of this has to do with the artist's style as well. Anime/manga style characters look very youthful sometimes unless they are drawn a certain way, for example.

As an artist myself, when drawing young characters (original or otherwise) I make it a point to establish age in one way or another, or in several ways. If a character is young to the point where its hard to tell whether they are underage or not, but the artist still wants to draw the character, I think its well within reason to take a little artistic liberty and "age progress" the character by giving them a fuller body thats slightly to moderately less nubile. This can go a long way in discerning the age appropriateness of the character for the situation they are in. Sometimes its more the situation or theme the character is in thats the problem more than the character themself.

Artists and mods agree that great care must be taken in the sharing of this material, and to that end there are guidelines this site has and then there are the personal morals that the artist has themself. Coupled together they make a sound judgement. So in actuality, this isn't a problem that I see crop up often.

Thanks for the replies
Again I was just wondering no further intentions
Besides I really suck at drawing anyway
I remeber the issue being raised recently

Grey area.
I usually stick with 18+ chars, or in that neighbourhood.

Law isn't too clear on that - bad case of technicality.
So it's up to admins, providers and authorities.

Manga and Anime, as usual, present us with a problem: a lot of chars and heroines happen to be under 18, even in series where a western viewer would expect older heroes.

Maybe we should refrain from blindly buying Japanese vids by the ton. It's a foreign culture, very different from western [and I'm European, so I know what's being different all about] and we don't see and feel things the same way.

...

Just a random thought.

As we discovered in our (Missy Val's) research all illustrations are legal...in the USA anyway. It's your responsibility to make sure you know what's legal to download where YOU are. I don't know about Holland but up in Canada I think they made lolicon illegal.
So legally there's no issue. As for the site rules...there really are no set rules regarding the apparent age of illustrated people but we WILL delete any overtly sexual pictures involving illustrated minors.
it's basically taken case-by-case. If you're unsure about something then host it on http://www.imageshack.us/ or something and ask a mod to look at it for you. =^_^=

Just a not. Be careful with hosting it on imageshack first. They remove pornographic content.

Well... this is actually a plus: if *they* consider it pornographic, they spare us from reviewing and deleting it on our own.
Or having it deleted by authorities - worst case scenario.
