I just read online that Dick Clark passed away from a heart attack at age 82.

Mr Clark was one of the all time best showbiz entertainers. While I did watch American Bandstand when he hosted it, my favorite program of his was "Dick Clark's New Years Rockin Eve". Even when I was little, my parents used to allow me to stay up to watch it. Until his stroke a few years ago, it seemed like Dick Clark never aged.

R. I. P. Dick.

RIP Dick. One of the greatest entertainers of all time. Going to be truly wierd to see New Years Rockin Eve this year.

and Mitch, I just saw your signature. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

An American Icon. R.I.P. Mr. Clark.

RIP Dick Clark, thank you for bringing many smiles to countless of peoples faces all over the world New Years Eve in Times Square wont be the same

Truly a sad day indeed. Like many have said, Dick Clark was an American Icon.

I also enjoyed Dick as the host of the "Pyramid" game shows. He pretty much excelled at whatever he did.

He will be sorely missed. R.I.P. Dick Clark.

ddd, thank you for your prayers.

I truly enjoyed Dick Clark. His death hits me double fold, because I'm still really upset about my mom. It makes the death of a celebrity I've always admired, that much more difficult.

Id read that he really struggled with the decision to host the last several years due to his condition, but he received so many letters from stroke victims and people with other illnesses saying he had given them hope that he felt compelled to go forward each year. New Years Eve wont be the same.....thanks for the memories!

Funniest moment ever...Police Squad! In Color!

I remember Dick Clark when he hosted American Bandstand from Philadelphia. He went on to produce many good shows for television including Dick Clark's Rockin New Years Eve. He was a good spotter of talented people. He will be sadly missed in the broadcast community. RIP Dick Clark.

I don't really know who he is being a Brit but I'll say this, and I mean no disrespect: He was a complete prick when approached in Bowling for Columbine, even if Michael Moore was being his usual overly-bullish self...

LIFE Magazine is publishing a Special Edition on the life of Dick Clark and the History of Rock and Roll.
