When Ross went into the den, he took the call from John Fish about the situation in Alaska.
"Ross, I know about your health conditions, but this deal if it happens will mean a mint of money. You really have to go up there. Maybe to make the trip easier on yourself, fly from and to Anchorage from LA instead of New York. Do New York to LA, sleep in LA a night, go to Anchorage, and then coming home do the same thing. You dont have to do this today, but within 30 days, you, and either Fritz or Steve should get up there" John said.
Ross sighed. "That sounds very fair. I figure due to the long trip of losing a day each way and basically two due to the flights, consider at least three to four days going and coming, not counting how long I have to spend up there, it will take at least seven to ten days. Let me call Fritz and Steve in the morning, and the four of us will talk and figure this out" Ross said.
"Might you be able to come up here within a week?" John said.
"Of course. That is a day or at most an overnight. I have to go to OKC for about two to three days to do a deal, but I have to talk to Fritz and Steve tomorrow to figure everything out" Ross said.,
Ross and John agreed to talk in a day or two to iron everything out.
When Ross got back to the bedroom, he had to tell Kayley.
"Okay, market and oil boy, what did Mister Fish want? Spill it, and I know it is not about going up to Toronto to see him because that is no big deal, so tell me the real story" Kayley said firmly.
Ross sighed. "We have to go to Anchorage, within 30 days. I'm going to split it up. I will fly from here to LA each way to split it up, and do the same thing coming home, so the trip is six hours on a plane to conserve my energy and not eleven hours. I might be gone up to ten days, I dont know" Ross said calmly and honestly.
Kayley gave a half annoyed sigh. "I dont like it, but I also know how important this source is for the energy company, so I will grit my teeth and look the other way. I hope you can set it up while you are there so that you have to go up there very little or hopefully never again and do it all on the phone or Zoom" Kayley said.
"Dont worry about that, first things first" Ross said.
Ross and Kayley went to sleep.
The next day, Ross went into the office, talked to Fritz, Steve and John.
At the end of that week, Ross would go up to Toronto to see John for the day.
Then the following week, Ross would go to OKC for the usual two or three days for investor shows.
Ross dropped the hint to Victor about the Alaska trip.
"Vic, this does not leave this office. Fritz, Steve, I, and maybe John Fish have to go to Anchorage within 30 days to look at a potentially very lucrative new deal. I will probably gone ten days. I'm not going to say anything to anyone but you, until the pieces are in place. I will tell John the account manager, and not say a word to Timothy until all is in place. I will firmly tell Timothy that he must give John a very easy campaign that month because I wont be here to save Timothy's ass the way I usually am., This trip will be tiring. I know that Kayley is not thrilled, but she also knows that this is a very, very important trip for me and for RFS Energy. It will be very careully planned, for all reasons. I'm glad it is a month away to allow us to put the pieces into place." Ross said.
"Of course, Ross, I understand, just work it all out, then tell me what I have to do, and let John know what he has to do" Vic said.
Ross smiled. "Thanks, Vic. you are an awesome person"
Later that day, Ross called Fritz and Steve.
"Guys, with this Anchorage trip, I propose that we dont kill ourselves the next time I come down there for the local wells. We do one or maybe two shows of however many people, and we more importantly begin discussing how to handle Anchorage. I'm hopeful that it will all work out well, but we have to discuss in depth with John Fish and the people in Anchorage about how to put it together" Ross said.
Ross was in the office that week, working, but his mind was clearly on the Anchorage trip, and less so on the Toronto situation, and going to OKC the following week.
On Friday, Ross boarded an early plane to Toronto for the day. He would be home that week, and would likely be off to OKC the following week for the usual 2-3 days for a show.
After that, in regard to Anchorage, it would be the unknown
