The last few days have really sucked for the Province of Alberta. We've just experience massive flooding which has basically wiped out the town of High River, destroyed parts of the Trans-Canada Highway and isolated several communities. Around a hundred thousand people have been evacuated throughout the foothills of Alberta and the Calgary region. Unfortunately, the City of Medicine Hat is next to get hit (probably even worse due to the number of tributaries flowing into the South Saskatchewan river) sometime on Monday.

Here's a few pics of the devastation:

Downtown Calgary. Most of Canada's Oil and Gas companies are headquartered here.

Canmore, a beautiful mountain community outside Banff, was completely isolated by the floods. Campers in the Banff and Kananaskis areas had to be rescued.

I've seen some of the reports, what a horrible event. My heart goes out to our Canadian friends. Wild, let us know where relief contributions can be sent, will you?

The Canadian Red Cross is accepting donations, and had already raised $2 million in flood relief within the first 48-hours of the disaster from our fellow Canadians. Thankfully, our emergency efforts were well organized and coordinated, so we suffered relatively few casualties.

I know there are other TMF members who live in the affected areas, please let us know how you're holding up!

I have an idea of what Albertans must be going through. Our area suffered unprecedented flooding a couple of years ago. It was mighty nasty.

Hang in there, guys. Keep us posted.
