A while back there was a mention about an episode of All in the Family where Archie wakes up a sleeping Edith via a foot tickle but no one could seem to get ahold of it. Well lo and behold, here it is. Short, but sweet.

I was surprised that I didn’t remember that scene until I looked the show up on Wiki and read that it ran for nine seasons. I realize now that I probably never saw any episodes after the first three or four years.

I was 11 years old when All in the Family was first on television. I thought Sally Struthers was something else and wished she would get tickled on the show.

Sally Struthers DID get tickled on the show, twice. Once, in the episode where she wears a black wig - her husband, Michael, nibbled on her neck and she screamed: "that tickles!" In another episode, when she found out she was pregnant but was sad because Michael wasn't thrilled about the news, her dad Archie tickled her to cheer her up, forcing to her to produce a winced, ticklish smile and soft giggle.

I've seen every All in the Family - at least the episodes through 1975 - four or five times, if not more. (It jumped the shark when Gloria and Mike move next door to the Jeffersons' old place; while still funny, All in the Family was no longer television's best program after that.) I remember the show about Gloria's black wig but, amazingly, don't recall the scene you describe.

However, more amazingly I had forgotten the other show you mentioned, when Archie tickles Gloria to cheer her up. Thanks for un-lapsing my memory!

Sally Struthers looked so good in the early to mid '70s - too bad the show's writers did not have Gloria and Mike get into some hot tickle fights. Same goes for the f/f tickle opportunity lost in the episode where Gloria and also-hot Mary Kay Place have the lingerie party only to have Mike ("Pizza!") and Archie crash it.

Here's the two Gloria scenes. Had to watch three episodes where she announces she's pregnant before I found the right one (Meathead is upset in every one of them!). Luckily, it's such a great series, it wasn't hard work! But the tickle itself is the MEREST of tickles, just to be warned!

You forgot to list the best tickling scene in the entire series. In the 1978 there was an AITF episode, where Archie's brother makes his first appearance. Early in the episode, Mike and Gloria come in. Gloria's walking in front of Mike, they're joking around and suddenly he starts grabbing her butt. She reacts w/hysterical ticklish laughter while he chases her all the way into the kitchen continuing to attack that cute little hiney, and she's laughing and screaming the whole time. It was on YouTube a while back, but I can't find it now.

And I have seen the aforementioned scene where Archie tickles Edith's feet. I believe it was an episode of Archie's Place. There were a couple times when Archie would tickle Edith during the series.

Maybe that explains why she's kind of "breaking character" on that last clip (where Mike chases her), laughing and sort of rubbing her fanny for a second.

ALSO (verbatim from the old Tickletown list): "on the Dinah Shore show, Sally Struthers, when she was still cute and skinny, kicks off her shoe to compare height with a male guest.
