Just wondering which of the frequenters here are from AMT. That scary near-miss incident with "Terri" just got me thinking about that...

Do people even post there anymore?

I try to stay away from the very few who act like morons and pay more attention to the good. It's one of very few NG's that isnt full of junk and spam. Bob has done a good job with it!

I check it out sometimes to check out the flame wars. There's a good one going on now about some people complaining about too many M/M posts.

I used to post monthly, announcing Gatherings, and would participate in some of the friendly and on-topic threads. Also dug Discordia's "tank" threads. Great sillyness. I still look, but have just realized I don't even announce my events on that forum anymore. I think the last time I posted on AMT was from some TMF-bashing post. It's been over half a year since the gatherings were mentioned there.

Geez, now I feel bad. Should remember to invite them folks to attend, too. Just 'cause it's still the wild and untamed frontier don't mean there aren't good folks there. Drew70 and RChello come t'mind quickly.

I miss the friendly days, but like all frontier stories, it ended for me when everything was a constant shootout. I'll announce stuff again, so folks know that all are welcome to join the gatherings, but it's just not that constructive, more oft than not. Not for me, anyway.

I've only recently begun getting into AMT, but I've embraced it wholeheartedly already. I don't think I'll ever want to leave it again! For tickling-related content, I'll go to the TMF. For laughs, I'll visit AMT. The flame-wars (Well, what passes for them lately) are simply super. Not to mention the recurring gay-bashing, that's a hoot and a holler. And the name-calling! It's wacky, loony and zany! Just like the good old times in kindergarten! 😀 I can only encourage everyone to check AMT out and look for themselves. Just remember - AMT is an unmoderated newsgroup, so you'll have to try and keep your posts nice and clean all by yourself - nobody's going to change them for you, or pull them. Neither will you receive protection if callously attacked. Get that flame-proof suit on! Once you're all armored up and ready to go, have fun!

AMT is a Usenet Newsgroup. Its full name is "alt.multimedia.tk". It can be accessed by any newsgroup-reader. A good one is Forte Free Agent (You can download it here), or Outlook express, to name but a few. AOL also has its own newsgroup reader. Good luck 😉

Wow, the memories.

I haven't gone to a newsgroup in... forever. It seems ALL of the good ones have degenerated into "Shootout at the OK Corrall" types of places.

In response to some user questions about the TMF and AMT I wanted to take a second to be clear about some points.

The TMF does not encourage or desire it's users to see AMT as a place to go and cause flame wars for the sake of 'fun' or 'sport'. That's so unconstructive.

We work hard to keep the TMF flame free, and I'd like to hope that our members would carry that spirit with them when visiting AMT, and sharing their thoughts and opinions there. AMT, like the forum is a great place to connect with other people who share our likes, and we don't want to see it to be made into a less fun place to visit by more poor behavior.
