You like dogs? I like dogs. I was out with my dog today and saw a lady and her 2 kids with their new puppy. That is their new pitbull puppy. I like pitbulls. They make good pets if you raise them right. This woman has no patients, is scared of dogs and I fear for her children in the day that that poor dog having been mistreated by this stuped person rips their tiny bodies to shreds. Like any dog loving, child protecting citizen (yes, the Keeper is protective of the weak and innocent. Surprised?) I tried to give this woman the best advice possible on pitbull safety and such but, I fear my words fell on deaf ears. With people like her it's all about novelty just like these rich twits who go all the way to a foriegn land to adopt a child. Never mind what happens to the adoptee as long as they boost their status in society. "Look at my exotic pet! Look at my exotic child!" Yes people this truly is the age of "Me".

I hear you (especially as a person who has and has had pets, including dogs). And its the poor dog that ends up getting punished when something goes awry. Its the same feeling with people who buy or adopt a puppy only because its cute and they give it all the attention then, but then could give less of a damn about it when its full-grown and have this contempt for it because its not what they wanted to have or see anymore.

You should own a pet for the right reasons, and I'm sure those of us who love animals and care for them as extended members of the family, know what those are.

Like alot of things in life, owning a pet is a commitment and raising and treating them right is a responsibility. It infuriates me when I see animals mistreated, neglected, or when stupid people walk their dogs just for show.

Its clear the dog isn't enjoying itself, and the person couldn't be more selfishly transparent.

Worse news on this...

I saw that puppy again today and he didn't look right. His belly was huge and bloated like someone had stuffed a softball inside of him. I asked what was wrong with him and the owner with a wave of her hand says "It's on account of my sister fed him too much." She acted like it was nothing. I read about the condition known as "bloat" a few months ago and I think that's what happend to this poor little abused dog. Just typing it right now is pissing me off! I have a good mind to call the AARF about this! It hurts to think what that little pup must be going through. He tried to pee and only a few drops came out. I'll bet he has or will end up with "bladder lock" or intestinal blockage and even worse they brought him out to excersise with that grossly overloaded stomach! That right there is one of the main causes of bloat which is deadly! Gosh, I hate backward people!! This really sucks. If I report them, they'll most likely know it was me and the kind of place where I live that can get you or your family hurt. I'm not worried about my self but, if anyone hurts my loved ones, I'll go to war on them Bronson style. I don't know what to do. I hate this feeling! It's like being helpless. Vlad, what do you think? You always seem to be filled with good answers and good judgement. Help me!

CALL THE HUMANE SOCIETY! if it is bloat or a blocked or twisted intestine it will be fatal without immediate care.

This turn of events is unfortunate and very sickening to say the least. This is inhumane and this stupid broad doesn't even realize it, what a stupid flake she is. They don't deserve to have that animal.

Hmm...If you feel the risk is too great or theres a threat to you or yours or there would be simply because you voiced your concern for the dog and reported the abuse then reporting may not be a good move.

However, whose to say you were the only one who saw this? If you can get your friends and family to lie and say that they saw this same dog and woman as well, then this woman won't be able to focus on any one individual and it would be her word against everyone else's. Even if people lie for her, at the very least, an investigation will be conducted and they will see that the dog is obviously not being cared for properly and is in possible need of medical attention. They will be able to seize the animal and possibly fine her. She deserves a bit more than a fine for this in my opinion, but the objective is met.

If you can somehow get multiple people to register anonymous complaints against this woman to the humane society then it may work than if you just do it on your own.

If you have any friends in the area or connections, I suggest you use them.

If theres one thing I know its that troublemakers are cowards and won't confront anyone but an individual. They don't have the nerve to harass multiple people, and they prefer to pick and choose their battles.

I think the answer to this problem is numbers.

While you would be asking other people to lie, its one of those rare instances of an honorable lie thats meant to result in a good outcome. There should be no guilt in having something done about this.

The only one whose going to lose either way is this poor creature. Whether it stays where it is and dies eventually, or it is taken to the pound and uthanized. Its actually MORE humane at this point that the dog at least be fed right while in a cage awaiting it's death (which would be short and painless), rather than suffering a slow, agonizing, lingering death with her.

Euthanasia is doing the poor thing a favor. Unless someone is willing to adopt the dog and restore it and let it live the better life it deserves.

That settles it then. I'm calling AARF (Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation). They're more humane than the the Humane Society.
I haven't seen that dog today but, I wasn't here all day either so, I'll wait until tomorow to see if he's still alive and how he looks then, tell-no. I get the feeling she doesn't like advice. I'll offer to buy the dog off of her. If she gives me a hard time then I'll call The AARF. If she pisses me off I may tell her it's sell me the dog or I call.

Kalamos: * snort... *

What is wrong with you? Don't you have a heart?!

Heart you say? Many actually. I keep them in nifty jars, over my cupboard.

...

I fancy a midnight snack, at times.

Good, good. Pin her in a checkmate, but don't use the later options until you've confirmed she's determined to do nothing. Leave her no options that allow her to get away with this. You must be quick, decisive, and relentless if you are to succeed. She needs to know that this is no trivial matter.

Make it so.

Here's the latest on that puppy...

I haven't seen him or that family sense my last post but, I just got back in from walking my dog and while I was out I saw them but, no dog. I asked one of the children "Where's ya dog?" to which he replied "Huh? Oh! We sold him." then he ran down the street to join his friends. He had acted a bit uncomfortable when he answered and didn't really look me in the eye. His mother was farther off down the street hanging all over some dude. I'm assuming that the pup is dead. Later tonight I'm going to take a walk near the dumpster where they live. If I smell anything bad I'll know that it's his tiny body in there but, for his sake I'll be glad that his suffering has ended. I'm going to let these people suffer for their actions in the worst possible way which I have learned is to let them reap what they have sown. If there's anything I've learned about karma is that it hurts in the most sensitive of places.

pardon my french, but yeah, that's some shit. if you get a new breed of dog, you should know everything about it!

on a side note, hell ya, Bronson knows how to go to war! :tounge: 😀

Gahh...if you do find out the poor thing dies then call the police! They could be arrested for animal cruelty or at the very least be fined heavily for not providing it with medical care.

oh, and pay a guy to admin he called the police! like a fall guy, but he gets paid for it.

Okay. I'll see what happens but, at this time I'm just assuming that he died. Until I check around and get some solid evidence I wont have a case. I'll probably go check that dumpster near their house around 3 or 4 am. It's 9:48 right now.

Having the kid tell people the dog was sold seems a pretty weak excuse that they'd only use if they were trying to hide something. For one, no one would buy a dog in that kind of health.

And in the most appropriate ways.

Absolutely disgusting. If you find that puppy dead, I hope you can get some justice going.

I see this kind of thing on TV and it makes my stomach twist every time. Absolutely horrible, the kinds of things people do to these animals, when all it takes is food, water, and attention, then they're your best friend. I will never understand those people.

I took a walk by that dumpster just as I said I would and coudn't smell anything rotting or dead. I went by there again tonight and still smelled nothing out of the ordinary. At this point I really don't know what happened to him but, I don't believe that they sold him. For now it remains a mystery but, I'll continue to monitor them for any suspicious behavior and bring up the subject once in a while. Maybe one of the kids will slip up and say something he was told not to.

if you have a real reason to believe the dog met a less than happy end (and I think you do) you can call whatever division of your local law enforcment handles animal cruelty and they'll at least question them. Better than nothing anyway.

I agree with Ness. Just waiting around for something to develop isn't the way to get justice. Questioning the kid again is a good idea though. He probably will slip up if he's nervous and his body language will give it away.

I'll question the cop who lives upstairs from me for advice and what can be done but, as of right now there is no evidence one way or the other so, finding anything out seems pretty bleak.

You can still report this to the Humane Society, AARF, or the local police.
I occasionally catch that Animal Police show on television and they get all kinds of calls about neighbors who think an animal is being abused but don't have proof. The police demand to see the animal and if there is anything wrong with it they will give a written warning to the owner to get it taken care of within x days, and they will return to see if they have done anything.

If they haven't then they will be fined and the animal will be taken and helped.
If they animal dies after a written warning to take care of it, then the consequences are much more severe (jail time).

It's the same type of situation where a neighbor suspects that a child is being abused, the authorities are called and an investigation takes place to ensure the safety of the child.

I wouldn't wait, I'd call - even an anonymous tip.
