As I'm sure some of you know, Labor day is almost upon us, which means it's about time for the annual Jerry Lewis Labor Day MDA telethon. Now, I know the telethon has gotten a bad rap from some, but, hey! So have chat rooms😉 However, MDA is paying for the wheelchair I'm now sitting in, pays for my sister's walker and some perscription drugs, and offers physical therapy and other services at little or no cost. And now (The windup, and the pitch) If everyone who reads this post could pledge just $1 to MDA this year, (Of course, if you want to pledge more, feel free!), well, it would mean a lot to me, many others worse off than me, and it might even make you feel good. Imagine, what if your one dollar contribution was the one more dollar they needed to unlock the cure? I might be able to walk into a gathering, under my own power, and you could say to yourself, "Hey, I helped make that happen!". Now, I don't mean to lay a guilt trip on anyone. You are all my friends, and, hopefully, still will be for many, many Labor Day weekends to come. So, that's my appeal. Thanks for listening!🙂

Muscular Dystrophy Association
The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is the world's largest non-governmental sponsor of research seeking the causes of and effective treatments for neuromuscular diseases, sponsoring some 400 research projects annually.
The MDA does research into many forms of neuromuscular diseases, including Lou Gehrig's Disease, which is the one Stephen Hawking has, I believe.
Muscular dystrophy (MD) refers to a group of genetic diseases characterized by progressive weakness and degeneration of the skeletal or voluntary muscles which control movement.
The muscles of the heart and some other involuntary muscles are also affected in some forms of MD, and a few forms involve other organs as well.
Many forms of MD begin in early childhood.
Though I have some problems with the politics & procedures of the MDA, it's one of the more effective research groups and very deserving of our dollars.

Ah, I know that very well! I have an aunt who has Muscular Dystrophy, which has some similar symptoms, so I've boned up a bit on such things. Odd never to have heard of the MDA though......
And of course, Stephen Hawking is a personal friend. 😀
