An early memory

One of my earliest recollections which I'd like to share took place when I was, oh, in my early teens. I went to a church social event one night, and while no tickling actually took place this was one of those precious moments that has always stayed with me.

A girl named Teri was sitting atop a table that was pushed up against a wall. Teri was THE PRETTIEST girl and was actually very popular and going steady with a guy who had just moved into town (yeah, there was some real jealousy going on around her at that point, but I digress).
Teri was about 5'5" tall, was beautiful from head to toe, and was a brunette. Absolute, drop-dead gorgeous smile and laugh, too!

So, there she was sitting on top of the table using the wall to sit back against. She was wearing a simple summer dress and tan shaded pantyhose, and she was NOT wearing her shoes (somehow I missed the point at which she took them off!). I happened to turn and to see her sitting there, and then I watched as her boyfriend slowly walked up to her, and then slowly lifted his fingertips to within an inch of her heavenly soles! Teri's reaction was to start giggling and almost
laughing, and then (after she had just gotten everyone's attention) she said as she giggled "No, don't you dare! Don't do it!" to her boyfriend as she looked at him with shining eyes. The moment would have been PERFECT if he would have just tickled her right then and there!

But you know what he did? He simply held his hands motionless for about ten seconds as she begged him not to tickle her feet...there
were MANY of us standing around watching this whole scene with total
fascination...and then he simply withdrew his hands and she was off the hook. What an absolute moron! It was SO OBVIOUS, even to me at the age I was at then...that she would have burst into laughter and
would have VERY probably enjoyed having her feet tickled by him, but
he just got stupid and didn't tickle her at all...!

Has anyone else ever witnessed such a "downer" when someone could have easily gotten a chance to tickle a pretty lady and didn't act on it?

No, I haven't--not in real life, anyways, since the mainstream media is full of missed opportunities! 🙁 But we must remember that not every person is a tickle fetishist 😀

While it was easy for you to call the guy a moron and wonder how dare he not tickle her, he was probably weighing the brief satisfaction of the quick tickle against the prospect of being kicked by the convulsing foot, screamed at, slapped, dumped, damned (for tickling on holy ground), and never seeing his girlfriend go barefoot in his presence again.

I hold the firm conviction that "no means no, unless previously agreed otherwise" is a good policy to follow in a lot of activities, tickling being one of them. Raise your hand if you would like your S.O. or a random acquaintance to pull on your hair whenever you are not wearing a hat, even after you specifically tell them to stop. (I am picking a random kink here, to put things in perspective.)

So yeah, while I think it's fun to tickle a girl's exposed foot, sometimes there is greater utility in refraining.

Perhap's you're right, starfires, but unless she sounds angry or scared, a quick tickle is harmless (assuming she hadn't objected to it many times before) 🙂

Well, on the one hand the problem with tickling is that it's rather hard to sound angry or scared when one is fighting to contain hysterical laughter. However, now that you mention it, the interaction in question suggests that they had a history with this, so the boyfriend probably knew (or thought he knew) when she was dead serious underneath the reflexive giggles.
That, or he was practicing the sinister art of tickling by suggestion alone (dang, someone teach me that!) on his poor girlfriend with a churchful of people blissfully unaware of the evil genius lurking among them.

A PERFECT opportunity missed!

Hi everyone!
Now, seriously, Teri was looking at him with a smile, giggling, twisting and turning her pretty feet this way and that...she was more than ready for a quick little tickle, or maybe even a longer one...that's my whole point, he really missed the signals she was sending out. Of course, she was three years older than I, was immensely popular, and I was just a weenie standing across the room from all of this, but by God if I wasn't such a weenie and she even knew my name (I'm quite sure she didn't!) and the boyfriend had been out of the picture...I might just have walked up to her and lightly tickled her perfect feet right then and there myself!

My main point was simply that she was SO sending him the message that she was ticklish, that she would giggle and laugh if he would just touch her gorgeous feet, and he basically blew it by not seeing how bright her smile was or how focused she was on him at that moment.
