Hey all,
Irishgirl and I had a blast at Nest and wanted to give a shoutout to all our friends, our acquaintances, and to the people we've barely spoken to but perhaps nodded at respectfully or smiled at in passing.
We miss you already. I'm not doing the name list with individual shoutouts (I know, how boring), but you all know who you are. You really mean a lot to us and we do promise to try to get out to more events than just Nest this year. 2009 was just so full of lame, suck, and bad timing for us that we just couldn't get away, even for a munch.
Back to Nest...I can't really say this without sounding like a stoned hippie, so bear with me.
When you initially arrive at Nest and get out of your car, immediately see 10 or so of your closest friends (and you haven't even gotten into the hotel yet), and you get greeted as though you're Norm walking into Cheers, it yields a sort of feeling that can only be described as nirvana. The outside world sorta fades into the background.
So even though the hotel staff were complete fuckups again, Nest was as uplifting as always because of the people who attend. It came at a perfect time but it went far too quickly.
To those who put Nest together, we thank you especially. You make it possible for friends to see one another year after year, on a large scale. Nest is a cornerstone of the community and I don't know what we'd do without it.
We've been home for only a few days, and on a daily basis we talk about Nest and the fun we had and how much we miss this person and that person, especially those who couldn't attend this year. It's become apparent that some of the very best people we've ever known, we only see at Nest.
So here's a shoutout to all of you. Thank you for making our lives a little better, for imparting a little wisdom, for being gracious and kind, and for inciting much laughter. We miss the crap out of you, and we can't wait to see you again.
Raising a Guinness Each,
Kelby and Meg
