An Odd Explorer Problem

It seems after being on the net for a long time my Internet Explorer tends to freeze up on me and I need to goto the task manager to close the program. Restarting the computer seems to help but the problem does seem to come back. This freeze up always seems to happen when I go over a link and the cursor changes to a little hand. I have cleaned out the temp files from explorer's cache and also defragged the hard drive. This helped somewhat but the problem still shows up. Any ideas how to fix it? Does that ever sound familiar!

As numerous members suggested to me,Kurch,Firefox is the answer. I also used Internet Explorer for the longest time,and suffered through the problems you describe.Defragging and cleaning out temp files would help for a bit,but the problem was always there.I even reloaded IE,and it froze up in the middle of that,so now I get an update not complete message everytime I cycle power! That WILL NOT go away!

When I finally worked up the courage to try Firefox,I found that things went very smoothly,and I no longer have any problems.It takes a bit of getting used to,but it`s nice to navigate without all the freeze-ups and error messages.I only wish I`d have listened to all the people who told me to switch earlier!
