MTP Jeff & all: You know that doc who's giving people magnesium to cure their ticklishness? (http://www.tickling.ws/articles.shtml#mad) Well it's bunk. One of my kids is on the autism spectrum and takes a special vitamin formula high in magnesium. He's doing much better but he's STILL ticklish and absolutely LOVES being tickled. In fact, I gave him "birthday tickles" today.

Magnesium to "cure" ticklishness? I've never heard of that before. I've read that it helps prevent MIGRANES, though. I hope so, cause I get ALOT of migranes and I still have no idea what's causing them...even the Dr doesn't.

Anyways....I don't see why someone would want to cure their ticklishness. Those people are just weird. 😀

Get another doctor! Have an MRI. Get to the bottom of it. I hope you don't have to suffer with it forever. In the meantime, laughing is always good medicine (tickle-tickle!) 🙂

I had assumed that everyone would get that it was a joke, based on the coincidence of him mentioning ticklishness being reduced as a symptom... sheesh.

If I didn't have to know so much about all the crazy biomedical treatments "doctors" are putting neurologically-disabled kids through I guess I would have seen this as a joke. I will now officially lighten up.

Glad to hear there's no cure for ticklishness after all.............*phew*.......

By the way TickleCrazy, I've got an autistic cousin who is also sensitive as hell. I did wonder if he would'nt be able to sense it what with being senorally deprived in some ways. IT didn't turn out that way though.🙂

BigJim, if your cousin likes being tickled it's a really good way to make a social connection with him. I did it last week with another autistic kid and surprised his mom, big time. This kid didn't even get the point of peek-a-boo until I rewarded his eye contact with tickles. After a while he was watching me closely and even got up to chase me around. Of course I let him catch me and tickled him down to the floor each time. His mom said now all he talks about is visiting our house. 😀

It definatley seemed to make him interact more with me than usual; and this kid is one of the worst affected cases I've ever seen. He was quite sociable in his detached way, but now he never leaves me alone when I'm round their house and he must know by now what happens when he slings his arms round my legs. I really agree with you on this one TC.
