Any HTML experts?

Mini-HDS(CrystalLight) might be able to help. I think she studied HTML a bunch before she made her fake website for a contest a while back. It turned out rather well.

Unless HDS gets here first, that is.

When I viewed the source of your website, it listed it in all CSS code.

What have you tried to do to get rid of them? And have you considered doing a site through Wordpress? There are no crappy looking ads like that.

http://www.wordpress.com

If you're just looking for a place to write/post TK stories, that might be a good one for you. It has a bit more of a professional look to it and navigating through it requires little to no knowledge on HTML/CSS.

Getting rid of the ads on a free host, while possible with some effort, it not really ethical. It's free for a reason: the ads support it. If you want an ad-free existence, go to something like what CrystalLight suggested, Wordpress.

Trying to remove ads from Tripod, like with Geocities before it, requires clever work to kill the ads after they are inserted (as they are added when your pages are served, not in the HTML you make).

...

Thanks.

I'm not trying to eliminate the free ads (I understand that advertising helps them pay for their services). It's just that each time I upload a new section of text to my page, yet another banner appears (at one point I had four of them, and they nearly blocked the page).

That's the insertion after the fact bit. There's no real way to prevent it; it's the scourge of free hosts. If Wordpress does not appeal, you could try http://www.110mb.com/ They purport not to use ads, and I've seen free sites there without ads. Might be worth a shot.
