I saw a short film noir called Agony, it was in French if my memory is correct.There was a beautiful brunette woman with her left foot suspended over bamboo which was cut at a very sharp angle, the bamboo slowly grew through the bottom of her foot and was protruding through the top. It was very realistic. She really seemed to be in agony.

Oh, I know that Inquisition picture quite well. It's one of my favorites. Though I'd love to see the unedited, complete magazine cover. The pulpy headlines are half the fun. Which would be quicker? slipping off her sandal and grasping her bare foot to hold the glowing end a fraction of an inch from her wriggling sole or dotting the exposed toes in open shoes one by one ? Decisions, decisions.
