Hello fellow music lovers, I have an outstanding concept of the music from the 50's to the 80's due to surgery on my knee I've decided to take up the guitar my guitar of choice is the Silvertone SD3000 in the pacakge come the normal supplies extra cord strings carrying case shoulder strap etc. Any thoughts you can share my way I cantread sheet music and with me playing the drums I just played by ear. Any help or suggestions would be great plus if you live in my area send me a PM and after I get back from the hospital maybe we can have our own jam session I will be laid up for 3 months for I will be in a cast from my hip to my toes so i wont be able to travel you're welcome to come to my home. It can be either a man or a woman or both as long as we have a good time and hopfully become good friends thank you :headbang: :yourock: :imthedj: :rimshot:

Tablature is pretty self explanatory to read. The horizontal lines represent the strings, the numbers represent the fret. However, with guitar tab, it doesn't account for speed / rhythm, so you'll need to have a pretty good idea of the song before hand and kind of feel it out.

Or just do what I do, learn a bunch of chords and stick to rhythm guitar versus lead. Way easier.

You can find chord patterns / guitar tablature for pretty much any song online for free.

ultimateguitar.com and azchords.com are some good sites.

Thank you AnnieHall what I was also thinking of doing was listing to music with/without a headset and playing that way, but thank you again for the advice

This. Mastering the chords and singing some songs with them is a good start. Good luck.

Thank you everyone for the comments I will taken them under advisement and go fro them. Generally I'm a play by my ear type so i will try plus also listen to the song through the headset and copy its chords

I'm a bass player. My advice: just don't stop moving your hand. There's always something just with the right hand that can be improved. THEN focus on the left!
