Hey y'all. I'm hoping someone here may be able to help me. I was going to post this in the international forum, but there is no Japanese subforum, and even if there was, I would most likely not have a clue what was being said...lol

Anyway, I am getting a Kanji Symbol tattoo. I would like to get one to represent me and/or the fetish, since the fun of getting a Japanese symbol tattoo is people asking "what does it stand for"

The problem is, I can not find the most obvious and fitting symbol of all - one for the word "tickle". I have found "play", "laugh", "extreme", "slave", "torture", and "naughty", but all of my hours of searching have yielded me nothing for the word 'tickle'. Does anyone know this symbol off-hand, or have access to a dictionary where they may be able to look it up? I would sincerely appreciate any help I can get.

Here are two examples of what I am looking for, or what I mean by a "Kanji Symbol".

This one is "play"

And this one is "laugh"

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Venray. I've already been to that website, and downloaded that entire 40meg program, just to be told I do not have the proper font (MS Gothic) needed to view it. I've been searching for over an hour now for the MS Gothic font on the net, and had no luck. Every site tells me I can get it from www.microsoft.com, but it is not there. I'm so frustrated right now I could scream...lol. BLERG!

Thanks for trying though, Venray. I appreciate it 🙂

Mimi

Something else that may help. I know the Japanese word for 'tickle' is "Tikkuru". I just need the word "Tikkuru" translated into a kanji symbol. Someone with the MS Gothic font can do it, I think.

Mimi

Mimi, as far as I know, tickling in Japanese means "kusuguri". I've never seen it written in Kanji, only in Katakana or Hiragana, the Japanese syllable alphabets. It consists of five rather simple-looking letters, not very attractive for a tattoo.

There is no clear one-word translation of "tickle" in Chinese either, it's made up of two separate symbols. I haven't got the software to produce it here, sorry.

Maybe CityOfMicA can help you, he learns Japanese.

Mims,

"tickle" in Japanese is indeed "kusuguru". Unfortunately, this symbol translates out to several symbols strung together, according to my desktop Japanese dictionary. That's the problem with Japanese (and Chinese) verbs... they cram several ideals into one and usually can't be expressed with a lone character.

(and Jesus luv2b, tone down your signature! it's larger than my entire screen, and I've got a 19 inch monitor!)

Blerg. Darn forum ate my first reply. Lets see if it works THIS time...lol

Thank you everyone, for taking the time to reply to this thread, and offer your own information, suggestions, and ideas. It does indeed look like I will be out of luck on locating the Kanji "tickle" symbol, as it apparently does not exist. I guess I will have to settle for one of the other symbols I had it narrowed down to that are in the same ballpark. Darn them anyway. 😛

I appreciate all of your efforts. Thanks!

Mimi 🙂

Yahoo! I HAD all but given up my search, based on the information provided to me here, but tonight I decided to search once again for Kanji symbols to see if there were others I might like that would suit the purpose I'm trying to fulfill.

Anyhow, about 8 pages into my search, I stumbled onto a website that actually has BDSM related Kanji symbols. And from there I followed one link, then another, etc, until I stumbled upon a Chinese/English translation dictionary. I decided 'what the heck', typed in tickle, and actually got a result! To be sure this was not merely a tease and to see if I could get the same results elsewhere, I followed another link to another site with similar functions/options, and tried my search again there, and viola, it gave me nearly an idential result (very slight difference, not hardly noticable). Of course, the symbol has a dual definition, both "itch" and "tickle", but hell, I'll accept it! Wheeeeeee! My search is over 😀 😀 😀

Thanks again to everyone who tried to help me with my project. Now to decide where I want this little symbolic gem placed....

Mimi

Hey Mimi! Care to share the link of that site for others who might be interested?

Ann 😉

well Hell Mims, if you wanted Chinese, all you had to do was ask. You know where my wife hails from. 😀

For Phineas, I also have a 19" monitor her signature logo is big but not that big! There was a nicer way to ask anyway. IMHO🙄

Mimi, I was going to reply to see if I could help you, but I see you have plenty. Good luck hon, I found several links on line just by looking up Japanese tatoos. If you do decided to get one, I happy to know you found what you were looking for. 😎

peaches,

might I ask what resolution you're running at? at 1024x768, her signature takes the entire screen.

Well I have a 17" monitor and it isn't that big on mine. Not sure about the resolution I'd have to check.

Hi Mimi glad you found what you are looking for, when ya getting it?

Misty, yours is just as bad. What is it with everyone feeling the need to take up an entire screen with their friggin' signatures? They shouldn't be any longer than two or three lines, tops. Not a huge image on top of a table full of text on top of another huge image... especially when they post a single line of content. 3/4's of my time in this forum is spent scrolling past giant .sigs to read a line of text at a time.

And seeing as how computer and web graphics are my area of professional expertise, I can say for a fact that you *have* to be running at a resolution higher than 1024x768 for this not to be an issue. I checked the source code of the pages and the images have line breaks after them, so it's not an issue of accidental word-wrap.

And if you don't believe me, I'll be glad to start taking screenshots. These .sigs are filling my entire window, and I've even got my browser text set to "Small".

I'm sorry I hijacked your thread, Mimi, but this is getting on my goddamn nerves.

(nothing personal, ladies. you're far from the only culprits around here.)

Sure thing, Ann! Here you go, for anyone interested.....

Hi Phianeas, I checked my resolution I sent you a PM about it. Mine is set 800 by 600 , I am using Windows XP also. My sig like luv2b sig doesn't look that big to on my screen😕

Sorry Miss Mimi for hijacking this thread. 🙂

Actually, Phinnie, do you have access to a program or resource in which I could get a large viewable version of the Chinese symbol for 'tickle'? I've displayed here the one that I have. I blew up in size on my own, and as you can see, the detail has suffered for me doing so. I have since found this symbol on many English/Chinese dictionaries, but all of them give me tiny little graphics in which I will destroy by increasing the size.

Geez, that's a book...lol.

Thanks in advance, sugar, whether you can help or not...lol

I did. My hosting server is down right now, hence why the image is not showing up. It will be there as soon as they work out the technical bugs and get back online.

You can disable them ya know? Somewhere in your options it allows you to disable seeing other users signatues in their posts.

Lime, you are now officially my Goddess. I never actually looked at the options page before.😀

GONE!

sorry it had to come to that, but damn, they was getting excessive.

and Mimi... most of the programs that my wife installs to display Chinese characters fork up my browser, so I don't let her put that stuff on my main PC. Still, she did offer to draw the character larger for you, but she insists there's several and you need to "pick one". 🙄 I followed your link, seems pretty straightforward... that one should be large enough tho, no?
