Anyone use Wells Fargo bank?

I am wanting to start up a regular check and savings account. I use something different for my paycheck. Something for the trucking industry.
My choices for a bank are a local bank, like Ephrata National ,or Fulton bank. I would prefer a true national bank that has branches/ATM's all over the U.S.
With ATM's all over, that means no ATM fees if I use Wells Fargo,if I start an account with them.

There are some Wells Fargo branches in my area. I guess I am looking for good or bad experiences with this bank.

Zod, I was in Wells Fargo for the entire time I lived in Lancaster, 13 years. As you may know, they used to be First Union, and then Wachovia, before becoming Wells Fargo. I was very satisfied with Wells Fargo, and highly recommend it. They have good policies, like overnight out of state check clearance etc.

Hope that helps. Good Luck.

Thanks Mitch. :ty: I did read some reviews about that bank. Overall they were given a two out of five star rating. I feel their are at least two sides to
every thing. 😉

My mother has used Wells Fargo as her bank since moving from New Jersey to Maryland because of the convenience of her local branch's location to her new residence. She has had a very good experience with them over the past four years.

We used them for our mortgage, have had it through them for 3 years now, and have never had a bad experience yet.

Personally, I prefer credit unions, which tend to have smaller fees. Plus, with shared branching, you can access your funds from any credit union in the shared branching network. I can't vouch for ATMs, though. I've heard some won't charge fees, but mine will.

One thing I know about Wells Fargo is that out of all the "too big to fail" banks, they were the only one who didn't want a bailout, because their financials were in good shape. They were forced to take it, though.

I opened a Wells Fargo checking and savings account a few years back because I needed a checking account to pay back my student loan through automatic payments.

I got rid of it back in August because they were charging me 8 bucks a month for it. To avoid the fee, I'd either needed to use my check card a few times a month or have direct deposit of my paycheck. I primarily use cash to pay for what need, online bill pay for my bills, so I wouldn't be able to use it enough to avoid the fee. I also don't have direct deposit.

I got fed up with their constant changing rules and fees and went back to my small town bank, which is a credit union. A $10 membership fee is all I needed and there's no hidden fees or sneaky tactics like not informing me of that $8 fee like Wells Fargo did for 3 months.

nemesis has a point, as I had an experience similar to hers. They helped me out with it though.

At one point, my balance in my personal account got very low, and they were charging me a $5-10 monthly fee. However, the guy at the branch I was in, knew that my mom and I had been customers for a while, and that I had a joint checking account with her. After a couple of months of the fee I was getting for my own personal account, he sat me down and suggested I switch to a free checking, no minimum balance account. Once I did this, I was able to avoid the fee, whether I had $10 in the account or $1000. I was also able to keep my same ATM card and number, with the new account.

Overall, except for the fee, my experience with them was positive.

Thanks FlatFoot,Nemmy,and Mitch. :ty:

I will look into a credit union.

Wells Fargo is a super shitty bank, in my opinion. You're far better off with
a credit union. As an added bonus, most credit unions allow you to take
photos of checks and do an electronic deposit using an app on your phone.
I use Logix and I totally love it. I'll never go back to another bank again.

........I will look into a credit union.

Because of the nature of your job (meaning lots of travel) I'm not sure how a credit union will work for you but if you can manage it, get a credit union account. Banks suck and Wells Fargo royally sucks! I no nothing about their savings or checking products, but just with my knowledge of mortgage "lending" products, I'd rather live in box than to have a loan with Wells Fargo! The only bank worse than them is Bank of America.....they are of the devil!

I've had both a credit union and a commercial bank account and if the credit union just add a couple of things to bring them technologically into the 21st century, I'd close my commercial bank account in a New York minute!

If you must choose a commercial bank, you may fare better with either keybank or Chase. I have a friend who's a retired truck driver and used Chase as his bank of choice and he's kept the account since his retirement from the profession two years ago. Branches are all over the country and they have apps similar to what BrightEyes described where you can photograph your check and it's considered deposited.

Good luck with your decision and do what's best and most convenient for you.

I am able to use almost any other credit union's ATM
for free. My CU has a partnership. Many do. Also, any
7-11 ATM is free. Or you could just get cash back at
any grocery store or pharmacy. 🙂

I'm not a big fan of their mortgages, either. I've talked to other investors who try to help people with short sales, and Wells Fargo tries to deter short-term buyers by requiring a holding period of 90 days before the investor can resell the property. They don't like that investors can profit when the bank could not. Instead, they'd rather let a house sit, hoping for that sucker to come along who will overpay for a house, until the seller loses the home. Just because an investor profits doesn't mean we're not helping troubled homeowners. We do more than the banks ever could. :sowrong:

Thank you. :ty:

With my company,I can get two cash advances on my paycheck per week. I can live off of those while out on the road. It means less fees vs using an ATM.

I have heard that with credit unions, your job has to be located in that county. My trucking company is based in the midwest.

Like I said earlier, they are of the devil as far as I'm concerned!!

You just continue to do as you are and eventually you'll shatter that glass ceiling that makes these banks believe that they're the only ones who can profit and gain. If I told you how many times they've been paid since the promissory note was signed, it would make you physically ill to know just how diabolical they are.

That's why we whip their so-called "plaintiff attorneys" butts in court. Can't get into the specifics in the public but could chat with you privately just for something to do.....no legal advice given from here.

But you are absolutely right.....short sales and deed in lieu of foreclosure are poorly handled by the banks. If you knew how many complaints between Wells Fargo and BOA, I have no idea why either of them have their doors still open.

I'm not completely sure about that so I suggest that you do some more research to verify.

I'm in a military-based credit union so they have ATM access across the country. You'll have to interview your potential credit union to see what they have to offer and if someone who travels at your capacity can benefit from having an account with them.
