Apparently People Take Their Shoes Off in Movie Theaters Now

Here's a YouTuber I follow because of the points he makes about streaming, Hollywood, physical media, etc. He mentions at around 5:12 that people will do things like take their shoes off while seeing movies in theaters and we shame them for it: https://youtube. com/watch?v=KhaLoTlrD18

Hey, if I'm an movie theater auditorium surrounded by young beautiful women in their socks, stockings, or tights, I'll be distracted but wholeheartedly welcome it! I'll feel like a kid in a candy store and think "Who's feet am I smelling and tickling first??". If I got to come home with a bag full of shoes to smell, that's even better! 😁😆😍😉

Maybe its not people who do harmless things like taking their shoes off to be more comfortable ( what idiocy - unless they smell bad ) that should be shamed but those busy-bodies that need to look for harmless things to shame others about.

I may have done that once or twice before, can't remember. But my thing is, if your feet stink, that's just being rude. No one wants to smell someone's dirty stinky feet while they're watching a movie.

And Secondly, if you're going to take your shoes off, don't prop your feet up unless there is no one in the seats in front of you. Nothing worse than taking your shoes off and then forcing someone to deal with your feet the entire movie. Many people on planes do this as well... i.e. bare feet on arm rests.

I realize this is like a fever dream for many of you on here and some of you are now probably salivating at the mouth from reading my post, but people do need to be mindful about their feet and bodies and other people in public.

Listen, it’s 2025, most movie theaters have those reclining seats where you can lie back and get comfortable. My wife takes her shoes off every time we go to the movies, and I love it.

I had one lee who went to the movies with me. She sat behind me, slipped off her shoes and hung her feet over the empty chair next to me. I trapped her bare foot under my arm and tickled her. I tickled her until I knew she was on the edge of losing control and making a scene. Only did it once, but it was fun.

That's true. Wasn't thinking about that. I'd have to say most theaters except for Regal. Went to one of their "high-end" theaters and the seats didn't fully recline like AMC. Can definitely see why they're on the verge of going bankrupt. But yeah, totally acceptable to slip your shoes off with that style of seating. But again, if your feet really stink and you know they stink, its rude. Not referring to you or your wife specifically, just in general. People don't go to the movies to smell dirty feet.

So I guess she knew you liked it? I would have just surprised her with random tickles throughout the movie. Maybe in a more quiet part, try to get a giggle or two. And then at the end of the movie go for the finale. But that's def a fun situation.

I can't think of anything more unsanitary to do in a move theatre aside from licking the floor and the seats. Ugh...put your shoes back on people. It's a movie theatre, not a beach.

While I don't completely agree with you, I can see what you mean by this being an example of cultural decline. However, this is almost nothing compared to more obnoxious behaviors people engage in.

Do you mean unsanitary because they are barefoot on the floor? or because they are barefoot in their chair? The shoes are what should be dirty, not their feet. that's why people take their shoes off when they enter the home or dont wear them into bed. Shoeless feet Isnt going to be anymore unsanitary than your hand or arm being on the chair.

I respectfully disagree with this for the most part. While the risk is not exceptionally high, plenty of very contagious diseases are transmitted more often through the feet, to include a variety of common fungal infections and HPV through plantar warts, not to mention concentrations of variations of normal healthy skin bacteria that the individual may be adapted to, but that someone else might not be.
