I need help I dont know what to do I got windows vista home basic and i use firefox and several times every day after a while when my browser does not work and when I restart firefox I get the file downloader with the message application/octet-stream and i'm asked to save or open the file and there is no file extension. And then for example when i try to go to Tmf I get the file downloader and I get Tmf as a php file. To get everything to work I have to restart my comp.

Sounds like it might be some piece of malware trying to run on your machine. The "application/octet-stream" bit is Firefox trying to open the file. I would try clearing your temporary internet files; I had a bit of a bug not too long ago where a random pdf.php page kept trying to open, usually freezing things due to the nature of the Adobe Acrobat plugin. The cause resides in your temporary internet files; no easy way to tell where you got it from. Try clearing out the temporary files and see if it happens anymore.

Go to "Tools"
Select "Clear Private Data"
Make sure "Cache" is checked but UNCHECK anything you want to keep (like history or saved form information); if you just want to kill the cache uncheck EVERYTHING but Cache
